Normotus is a medicine in the form of an oral solution that is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of unproductive (irritable, nervous) cough.
It is intended for use in adults and children from 2 years of age.
The recommended daily dose varies according to the age of the patient:
Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age: 5-10 ml according to need every 4 hours (6 times a day).
Children 6-11 years: 2.5-5 ml as needed every 4 hours (6 times a day).
Children 2-5 years: 1.25-2.5 ml as needed every 4 hours (6 times a day).
Do not use Normotus:
In children under 2 years of age.
In case of allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the active ingredients or excipients present in the composition of this medicinal product.
In patients with asthmatic cough, productive cough, respiratory insufficiency, arterial hypertension, liver diseases.
If there is previous or concomitant treatment with: MAOI or SSRI antidepressants, Bupropion, Linezolid, Procarbazine, Selegiline.
In sedated, debilitated or bedridden patients.
In patients with atopic dermatitis, due to histamine release associated with dextromethorphan administration.
Consult a doctor before use if pregnant or breast-feeding.
Caution when driving and operating machinery.
Normotus may cause side effects, as with all medicines. In particular, the following common side effects have been observed: drowsiness and dizziness.
Each ml of Normotus contains 1.5 mg Dextromethorphan hydrobromide as the main active substance. The other excipients are: Sodium benzoate (E-211), Citric acid, Maltitol liquid (E-965), Saccharin sodium (E-954), Propylene glycol (E-1520), Strawberry flavouring (contains glucose and benzyl alcohol), Contramarum flavouring, Purified water.
For proper administration of the medicine, use the measuring cup and wash it after each use.
Drink plenty of water during treatment to hydrate mucous membranes, avoiding grapefruit or orange juice in any case.
If there is no improvement within 7 days or if symptoms worsen, seek medical advice.
