Laitos Syrup 200 ml

It isa medicine in syrup form indicated for the treatment of symptoms of unproductive (irritative, nervous) cough.

It is intended for use in adults and children from 2 years of age.

The recommended dosage varies according to the age of the patient:

• From 12 years of age: 10 ml every 8 hours (3 times a day).

• Children between 6 - 12 years: 5 ml every 8 hours (3 times a day).

• Children between 2 - 5 years: 2.5 ml every 8 hours (3 times a day).

Do not use Laitos syrup:

• In children under 2 years of age.

• In patients with hypersensitivity to any of the active substances or excipients listed in the composition of this medicine.

• In patients with asthmatic cough, productive cough, respiratory failure, high blood pressure, liver disease.

• If there is previous or concomitant treatment with: MAOI or SSRI antidepressants, Bupropion, Linezolid, Procarbazine, Selegiline.

• In sedated, debilitated or bedridden patients.

• In patients with atopic dermatitis, due to histamine release associated with the administration of dextromethorphan.

• If pregnant or breast-feeding, without first consulting a doctor.

Laitos Syrup may cause side effects, as with all medicines. In particular, the following reactions have been observed frequently: drowsiness and dizziness.

Each ml of Laitos Syrup contains 3 mg Dextromethorphan hydrobromide as the main active substance. The other excipients are: Sodium benzoate (E-211), carmellose sodium, sorbitol (E-420), glycerol (E-422), citric acid monohydrate, saccharin sodium (E-954), strawberry flavouring and purified water.

Use the measuring cup for correct administration of the medicine and wash down after each use. Drink a glass of water immediately afterwards to moisturise the mucous membranes.

Avoid taking with orange or grapefruit juice. Do not drink alcohol while taking this syrup.

It is important to drink plenty of water throughout the treatment to increase its action.

See your doctor if you do not improve within 7 days or if your symptoms worsen during this time.
