It is a herbal medicine, specifically Pelargonium root, indicated to relieve the symptoms of the common cold, based on the traditional use of plants.
Suitable for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.
Dosage varies according to the age of the patient:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 1 tablet every 8 hours, 3 times a day.
Children from 6 to 12 years of age: 1 tablet every 12 hours, twice a day.
The recommended duration of treatment is 7 days. Maximum two weeks.
Do not take Kaloba tablets:
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine.
If you suffer from severe liver disease.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding are not recommended without consulting a doctor, as there is insufficient data on the use of this medicine in these circumstances.
As with all medicines, Kaloba tablets may cause side effects:
Gastrointestinal problems such as stomach pain, burning, nausea or diarrhoea may occur.
Slight bleeding from the gums or nose may occur, serious hypersensitivity reactions with swelling of the face, difficulty breathing and a drop in blood pressure may occur.
The active ingredient of Kaloba tablets is 20 mg dried extract (liquid) of Pelargonium sidoides root.
Excipients: Maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, precipitated silica, magnesium stearate, hypromellose 5 mPas, polyethylene glycol (macrogol 1500), iron (III) oxide yellow E 172, iron (III) oxide red E172, titanium dioxide E171, talc, simethicone, methylcellulose, sorbic acid.
Kaloba tablets is an herbal medicine for treatment of the common cold, relieving symptoms, one tablet to be taken with fluids morning, noon and night, both in adults over the age of twelve and only twice daily in children over the age of six.
A healthy diet with adequate protein and vitamin intake is recommended.
