What is Lairesp nasal nebuliser and what is it used for?

It is a medicine that belongs to the group of nasal decongestants. Its active ingredient is oxymetazoline, which, when administered nasally, produces intense vasoconstriction, resulting in an effective treatment for nasal congestion.

Who it is intended for

Suitable for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.

Directions for use

Apply 1 spray every 12 hours in each nostril.

Contraindications

  • Do not use Lairesp nasal nebuliser in children under 6 years of age, as well as special caution in those over 65 years of age.

  • Pregnancy and lactation: a doctor should be consulted.

  • This medicine is contraindicated in people who have had head surgery such as cranial, transnasal or transoral surgery.

  • This medicine contains benzalkonium chloride (special caution in patients with suspected persistent congestion, discontinue treatment and use a medicine that does not contain benzalkonium chloride).

Side effects

Like all medicines, Lairesp may cause side effects:

  • Common side effects: headache, sneezing, nasal itching.

  • Very common side effects: dependence on the medicine, dizziness, nervousness, palpitations, difficulty falling asleep.

Composition

The active ingredients of Lairesp nasal nebuliser are: 0.5 mg oxymetazoline (each 0.07 ml spray contains 35 micrograms).

The other ingredients are: glycine, benzalkonium chloride, disodium edetate, glycerol (E-422), menthol, eucalyptus essential oil, povidone K-30, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
