Amidrin may cause side effects, as with all medicines. This does not mean that everyone will suffer from them. These side effects can be:
Frequent: anxiety, restlessness, tachycardia and palpitations.
Very common: itching, dry nose and throat, sneezing, nausea, headache and nosebleeds.
The active substance is Xylometazoline hydrochloride 1 mg/ml. The other excipients are: glycerol (E-422), benzalkonium chloride, essence of Niaouli, disodium phosphate, monosodium phosphate and purified water.
This medicine is not recommended for use for more than 3 days, as it contains benzalkonium chloride, which when used over long periods of time causes inflammation of the mucosa, which can lead to persistent nasal congestion.
Before using this medicine, nasal fluids should be thoroughly removed by blowing the nose or applying sea water.
