Ointment for local symptomatic relief of superficial venous disorders in adults and children over 1 year of age.

It is a topical medicine formulated with sodium chondroitin sulphate, an active ingredient with a blood flow-promoting action.
It is intended for use in adults and children over 1 year of age seeking relief from superficial venous disorders, such as heavy legs with varicose veins.
Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected area, massaging gently until absorbed, about 2 or 3 times a day. Wash hands thoroughly after each application.
The duration of treatment will depend on the need:
- For superficial venous disorders: between 1 and 2 weeks.
- For haematomas: 5 to 10 days.
Do not use Hirudoid ointment:
- In children under 1 year of age, except under medical supervision.
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, unless recommended by a doctor.
- In case of allergy to sodium chondroitin sulphate or any of the other ingredients included in this medicine.
- On open or infected wounds, ulcers or mucous membranes.
- On very large areas of skin.
- If you suffer from coagulation disorders.
Hirudoid ointment may cause side effects, as with all medicines, but this does not mean that everyone will experience them. In this case, being a topical medicine, adverse reactions have been observed very rarely, which are: allergic reactions at the site of application, such as irritation or itching. These effects disappear when treatment is discontinued.

Each gram of Hirudoid ointment contains 3 mg of chondroitin sulphate as the main active substance. The other excipients are: isopropyl alcohol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E-218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E-216), thymol, potassium hydroxide, stearic acid, alcohol, ketostearyl alcohol, glycerol (E-422), myristic alcohol, lanolin and purified water.
