What is Dioflav 500mg tablets and what is it used for?

It is a venotonic medicine used for the relief of symptoms related to mild venous insufficiency of the lower limbs, including pain, heaviness, tightness, tingling or itching in swollen or varicose legs.

Its use increases the tone of the veins and the resistance of the capillaries.

It comes in a pack of 30 tablets.

Who it is intended for

Specially formulated for people with problems of heaviness, swelling or varicose veins in the legs.

Instructions for use

The recommended dosage is as follows:

Take 2 tablets of Diosmin Pensa a day, divided into two intakes during meals, one at lunch and one at dinner.

Contraindications

Do not use Diosmin Pensa

- In children under 18 years of age.

- In case of allergy to diosmin, to other flavonoids or to any of the excipients present in this medicine.

- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, unless expressly recommended by a doctor.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Diosmin Pensa can cause side effects, but this does not mean that everybody will experience them. In this case, the following have been observed:

  • Frequent: gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhoea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting).
  • Infrequent: colitis.
  • Rare: nervous system disorders (dizziness, headache, malaise) and skin reactions (rash, pruritus, urticaria).
  • Unknown frequency: abdominal pain, isolated oedema of the face, lips and eyelids (swelling).
  • Rarely, Quincke's oedema (rapid swelling of tissues such as the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in breathing) may occur.

If after 2 weeks of treatment the symptoms do not improve or worsen, consult your doctor.

Composition

Composition ofDiosmin Pensa Pharma:

Each tablet contains as active ingredient the purified and micronised flavonoid fraction, containing 450 mg of diosmin and other flavonoids expressed as 50 mg of Hesperidin.

The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose (E-460), gelatin, potato sodium carboxymethyl starch, talc and magnesium stearate. The coating agents are: lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, macrogol 4000, iron oxide yellow (E-172) and iron oxide red (E-172).
