Menaven 1000 Ui/G Ointment 60 g

It is a topical medicine formulated with heparin sodium and is therefore indicated for the local symptomatic relief of superficial venous disorders, such as heaviness in the legs with varicose veins or superficial haematomas caused by bruising.

It comes in a convenient tube containing 60 g of ointment.

Suitable for use by adults only unless prescribed by a doctor.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult before use.

The recommended dose is 1 to 3 applications per day on the affected area, using a gentle massage until completely absorbed.
Wash hands thoroughly after each application, unless they are the site of treatment.

Do not use Menaven:

• In children under 18 years of age.
• In case of allergy to heparin sodium or to any of the excipients.
• On mucous membranes, ulcers and open or infected wounds.

Menaven ointment may cause side effects, as is the case with all medicines, which does not mean that everyone will suffer from them. In this case, the following has been observed:

• Most frequent adverse reactions: contact dermatitis, local irritation, local allergic phenomena and pruritus.
• Less frequent adverse reactions: appearance of reddening of the skin, skin dryness, burning, cold sensation and urticaria.
• Very rarely, the possibility of skin necrosis at the site of application has been described.

The active substance of Menaven Ointment is heparin sodium. Each gram of gel contains 1000 IU of heparin sodium (equivalent to 5.56 mg). The other excipients are: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), carbomer, 96% ethanol, diethanolamine, lavender essence and purified water.

Menaven Ointment is a medicine for topical use, which comes in the form of a transparent ointment with a lavender scent, presented in an aluminium tube containing 60 grams of gel. It provides a pleasant cooling sensation after use.
