It is a topical medicine formulated with heparin sodium and is therefore indicated for the local symptomatic relief of superficial venous disorders, such as heaviness in the legs with varicose veins or superficial haematomas caused by bruising.
It comes in a convenient tube containing 60 g of ointment.
Suitable for use by adults only unless prescribed by a doctor.

The recommended dose is 1 to 3 applications per day on the affected area, using a gentle massage until completely absorbed.
Wash hands thoroughly after each application, unless they are the site of treatment.

Menaven ointment may cause side effects, as is the case with all medicines, which does not mean that everyone will suffer from them. In this case, the following has been observed:
The active substance of Menaven Ointment is heparin sodium. Each gram of gel contains 1000 IU of heparin sodium (equivalent to 5.56 mg). The other excipients are: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), carbomer, 96% ethanol, diethanolamine, lavender essence and purified water.
Menaven Ointment is a medicine for topical use, which comes in the form of a transparent ointment with a lavender scent, presented in an aluminium tube containing 60 grams of gel. It provides a pleasant cooling sensation after use.
