What is Toshedra 35 Mg Syrup , 20 sachets of 5 ml and what is it for?

It is a medicine indicated for productive coughs, i.e. it acts as an expectorant. It helps to eliminate mucus.

Who is it for ?

It is indicated foradults and children over 6 years of age.

Instructions for use

It is a syrup to be taken orally.

For adults and children over 12 years of age , it is recommended to take one sachet, i .e. the equivalent of 5 ML, 3 times a day.

For children between 6 and 12 years of age, it would alsobe 5 ML, one sachet, but twice a day.

Contraindication s

  • If allergic to ivy (Hedera helix L.), to plants of the Araliaceae family or to any of the other ingredients of this medicinal product (listed in section 6).

  • Do not administer to children under 2 years of age as there is a risk of aggravation of respiratory symptoms.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Common (may affect 1 to 10 out of 100 patients): gastrointestinal system reactions such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea have been reported.

Rare (may affect 1 to 10 per 1,000 patients): Allergic reactions such as urticaria, skin rash, difficulty breathing (dyspnoea) have been reported.

Precaution s

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take Toshedra.

The doctor or pharmacist should be consulted in cases of dyspnoea (difficulty in breathing), fever or purulent sputum.

Concomitant use with other antitussives such as codeine or dextromethorphan is not recommended without medical advice.

Caution is advised in patients with gastritis or gastric ulcer.

This medicine should not be administered to children aged 2 to 5 years as it cannot be dosed adequately, there are other formulations more suitable for this age group.

In case of worsening of symptoms or if there is no improvement 7 days after starting treatment, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

Compositio n

The active substance is: dry extract of Hedera helixleaf . 5 ml of Toshedra contain 35 mg Hedera helix L. (ivy) dry leaf extract (4-8:1), extraction solvent: ethanol 30% (m/m). The other ingredients are: purified water, potassium sorbate , citric acid, non-crystallisable liquid sorbitol (E-420), xanthan gum and cherry essence.

Pharmaceutical advice

In case of pregnancy and breastfeeding, there are not enough studies on its safety, so we would not advise its intake. As well as in children under 2 years of age.

If the cough persists or worsens after 7 days, it is advisable to seek medical advice.
