It is a medicine that mixes four active ingredients, which act by reducing excess stomach acid. This is why it is used to relieve and treat the symptoms of heartburn and sour stomach.
It comes in a format of 50 aniseed-flavoured chewable tablets.
Suitable for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
The usual dose for both adults and adolescents is as follows: take 1 to 2 tablets when there are symptoms. It is recommended to wait 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals.
Do not exceed the maximum amount of 8 tablets a day, it is recommended to always use the lowest dose that is effective.
Do not take Secrepat:
In children under 12 years of age.
If you are allergic to any of the active ingredients or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you suffer from severe kidney failure.
If you suffer from hypermagnesaemia.
If you suffer from hypercalcaemia.
If you suffer from bowel obstruction.
Like all medicines, Secrepat can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. In this case, the side effects that may occur when taking this medicine are generally mild and transitory.
Very rare: constipation or diarrhoea.
Frequency not known: faecaloma (swelling of the lower legs, hypercalcaemia, hyperaluminemia (hypophosphataemia), kidney stones, bone diseases such as osteomalacia and osteoporosis or phosphorus depletion syndrome. Also in case of kidney disease: metabolic alkalosis (metabolic disturbance), hypermagnesaemia (increased levels of magnesium in the blood).
The active ingredients per chewable tablet of Secrepat are 400 mg aluminium glycinate, 150 mg calcium carbonate, 100 mg aluminium hydroxide and 50 mg magnesium trisilicate. The other excipients are: povidone, mannitol (E-421), saccharin sodium, sodium cyclamate, aniseed flavouring (containing lactose, sodium and ethanol), magnesium stearate.

The tablets should be chewed and never swallowed.
Antacids should be taken 2 to 3 hours apart from other medicines as they change the absorption or elimination of many medicines.
