It is a medicine in capsule form formulated with almagate, an active ingredient with antacid action that helps to neutralise excess acid in the stomach.
It is intended for use in adults and those over 12 years of age who are seeking relief from the symptoms of heartburn and acidity.
The recommended dose of Almax 500 mg is 2 tablets 3 times a day, preferably about 30 minutes after meals. A dose may be taken before bedtime if discomfort recurs, but not more than 16 tablets a day.
Consult a doctor if there is no improvement after 14 days of treatment.
Do not take Almax:
If you are under 12 years of age.
If you are allergic to almagate or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you suffer from Alzheimer's disease.
In case of undiagnosed haemorrhage of the digestive tract, diarrhoea, oedema, haemorrhoids, gravidarum toxaemia.
Almax 500 may cause side effects, as is the case with all medicines, which does not mean that everyone will suffer from them. In this case, due to the low intestinal absorption of almagate, these effects are rare. If they do appear, they may take the form of diarrhoea, which generally disappears after discontinuation of treatment.
Each chewable tablet of Almax contains 500 mg of almagate as the main active ingredient. The other excipients are: mannitol (E-421), povidone (E-1201), potato starch, calcium saccharin, ammonium glycyrrhizate, magnesium stearate and peppermint essence.
Almax 500 mg chewable tablets is an antacid medicine for people over twelve years of age, specially formulated to neutralise excess acid in the stomach.
The tablets have a pleasant light mint flavour and can be chewed slowly within 30 minutes of finishing each main meal. A maximum of 2 tablets can be taken three times a day, but not more than 16 a day.
