Intended for the treatment of symptoms related to hyperacidity and heartburn in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age.
The recommended daily dose is 2 to 4 chewable tablets, according to need, 1 hour after meals and before bedtime, not exceeding a maximum of 16 tablets per day.
Do not take Gaviscon Forte:
- If you are under 12 years of age.
- If you are allergic to calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- In case of kidney stones or severe renal insufficiency.
- If you have high amounts of calcium in your urine or blood,
- If you have low phosphate levels in your blood.
Gaviscon Forte tablets may cause side effects, as with all medicines, but this does not mean that everyone will experience them. Specifically, the following side effects of unknown frequency have been observed, mostly related to prolonged use and high doses:
- Symptoms of allergic reactions, including swelling, rash, itching, difficulty breathing and anaphylactic shock.
- Nausea, vomiting, constipation, confusion, thirst or dehydration.
- Burnett's syndrome.
- Increased blood calcium levels.
Each tablet of Gaviscon Forte contains 250 mg sodium alginate, 106.5 mg sodium hydrogencarbonate (bicarbonate) and 187.5 mg calcium carbonate as the main active ingredients. The other excipients are: macrogol (20000), mannitol (E-421), copovidone, acesulfame potassium (E-950), aspartame (E-951), peppermint flavouring, azorubine (E-122), magnesium stearate, xylitol DC (contains carmellose sodium).
Gaviscon Forte is very convenient to take as you can carry the sachet or chewable tablet with you and take it straight away. It also has a pleasant mint flavour.
It is a medicine indicated for the symptomatic treatment of hyperacidity of the stomach and heart burn caused by acid reflux of the stomach, which has a pleasant mint flavour .
