Chewable tablets for the relief of symptoms of hyperacidity of the stomach and heartburn caused by acid reflux.

It is a medicine belonging to the group of so-called other agents that works against peptic ulcer and gastro-oesophageal reflux. It is therefore used to treat the symptoms of hyperacidity and heartburn caused by acid reflux.
Its mechanism of action acts in two different ways:
On the one hand, it forms a barrier in the stomach that prevents the burning in the pit of the stomach caused by reflux.
On the other hand, it neutralises the excess acid in the stomach.
It is intended for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
The recommended dose is 2 to 4 tablets as needed, 1 hour after meals and before bedtime, without exceeding the maximum dose of 16 tablets a day.

Like any medicine, Gaviscon mint flavour may cause side effects, although this does not mean that everybody will experience them. In this case, the frequency with which the following side effects occur is unknown.
The active ingredients of Gaviscon mint flavour are: 250 mg sodium alginate, 133.5 mg sodium hydrogencarbonate (bicarbonate) and 80 mg calcium carbonate.
The other ingredients are macrogol, mannitol (E421), copovidone, peppermint flavouring, aspartame (E-951), acesulfame potassium (E-950), magnesium stearate.
It is recommended that Gaviscon be taken approximately 2 hours apart from other medicines to avoid interfering with them.
As with all medicines containing calcium, it should not be taken with large quantities of milk or dairy products.
If after 7 days of treatment the symptoms do not improve or worsen, seek medical advice.
