Gastroresistant capsules for the relief of heartburn symptoms in adults.

It is a medicine belonging to the group of so-called "proton pump inhibitors", which reduce the acid produced by the stomach. It is therefore used for the relief of reflux symptoms, which include heartburn or acid regurgitation.
It comes in a convenient blister pack of 14 gastroresistant capsules.
Suitable for use in adults over 18 years of age.
Omeprazole Pensavital capsules contain 20 mg of omeprazole as the active substance. The other ingredients are hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, disodium phosphate dihydrate, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), methacrylic acid copolymer, triethylcitrate and sugar spheres (contains corn starch and sucrose). Capsule: titanium dioxide (E 171), water, gelatine, printing ink (containing Shellac, Ethyl alcohol, Isopropyl alcohol, Propylene glycol, N-butyl alcohol, Ammonium hydroxide, Potassium hydroxide, Purified water, Iron oxide black E-172). See section 2. Omeprazole pensavital contains sucrose.
The usual dose is 1 capsule per day, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach or with food. The capsules should be swallowed whole, without chewing, with some liquid.
If after 14 days of treatment the symptoms do not improve, or worsen, consult a doctor.
Do not use Omeprazol PensaVital:
In children under 18 years of age.
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine. Also in case of allergy to medicines containing proton pump inhibitors (such as pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole).
If you are taking a medicine containing nelfinavir (used for HIV infection).
Precautions
Omeprazole may hide the symptoms of other diseases. Therefore, consult your doctor if you experience any other ailments before you start taking this drug or during the duration of treatment.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using omeprazole.
Side effects
As with all medicines, Omeprazole PensaVital may cause side effects. This does not mean that everyone will experience side effects. Specifically, the following have been observed
Very common side effects
Sudden wheezing.
Swelling of the lips, tongue and throat or body.
Skin rash.
Fainting or difficulty swallowing (severe allergic reaction).
Reddening of the skin with blistering or peeling.

Dark urine and tiredness, which may be symptoms of liver problems.
Common side effects
Headache.
Effects on the stomach or intestine: diarrhoea, stomach pain, constipation and gas.
Nausea or vomiting.
Benign polyps in the stomach.
Rare side effects
Swelling of the feet and ankles.
Insomnia.
Dizziness, tingling sensation, drowsiness.
Feeling of spinning (vertigo).

Skin rash, itching and rashes.
Feeling of general malaise and lack of energy.
Rare side effects
Blood problems.
Allergic reactions, sometimes very severe.
Agitation, confusion or depression.
Taste alterations.
Visual problems, such as blurred vision.

hair loss
Skin rash on exposure to sunlight.
joint or muscle pain
Severe kidney problems.
Increased sweating.
Very rare side effects
Alterations in blood counts.
Hallucinations.
Adverse effects of unknown frequency
Inflammation in the intestine (leading to diarrhoea).
Hypomagnesaemia.
Skin rash, possibly with joint pain.
In very rare cases, may affect white blood cells and cause immunodeficiency. If you are suffering from an infection with symptoms such as fever with severely deteriorated general condition or fever with symptoms of local infection, such as pain in the neck, throat or mouth or difficulty in urinating, you should consult your doctor as soon as possible for a blood test to rule out a lack of white blood cells (agranulocytosis).
Stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor immediately if you notice any of the rare but serious effects described above. Your pharmacist's opinion
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, as omeprazole can interact with a large number of medicines.
It is very important not to chew the capsules, so if you are unable to swallow them, you can open them and take the contents mixed with water or any other liquid (other than milk or sparkling water), preferably of an acidic nature (fruit juice).
It may be necessary to take the capsules for 2 or 3 days in a row to observe an improvement of the symptoms. If after 14 days these symptoms do not improve or worsen, you should consult a doctor.
