Okaltus 10/100 mg Oral Solution, 20 Sachets

It is a cough and mucus medicine formulated with dextromethorphan and guaifenesin forantitussive and expectorant action .It is used to relieve cough and to facilitate the expulsion of excess mucus and phlegm in colds and flus.

It comes in a pack of 20 sachets.

Suitable for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.

The recommended dose varies according to the weight and age of the patient:

• Adults: take 1 sachet every 6 hours. If necessary, it could be taken every 4 hours. If this is not sufficient, 2 sachets can be taken every 4-6 hours as needed. The maximum amount of medicine that can be taken in 24 hours is 12 sachets divided into at least 6 doses .
• Children between 6 and 12 years: give 1 sachet every 6 hours. If necessary, 1 sachet could be taken every 4 hours. The maximum amount of medicine that can be taken in 24 hours is 6 sachets divided into at least 6 doses.

Do not use Okaltus:

• In children under 6 years of age.
• In case of allergy, hypersensitivity or intolerance (contains fructose) to any of the components of this medicine.
• If you have asthma or cough with a largeamount of mucus and phlegm.
• In case of severe lung disease.
• If you are taking or have taken amonoamine oxidaseinhibitor ( MAOI)medicine for the previous 2 weeks .

Like all medicines, Okaltus may cause side effects, although not all patients will experience them.In this case, during the period ofuse of dextromethorphan and guaifenesin, the following adverse effects have been observed:

• Unknown frequency: drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, constipation, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, headache and skin itching (urticaria) .
• Rare:mentalconfusion.

Each sachet of Okaltus contains dextromethorphan hydrobromide 10 mg and guaifenesin 100 mgas active ingredients . The other ingredients are: Povidone, sodium benzoate (E-211), anhydrous citric acid, strawberry flavouring (with corn starch and propylene glycol), sorbitol (E-420) 2.875 mg, aspartame (E-951) 35 mg and purified water.
