Fodonal 3 mg Honey-Orange Flavour

It is a medicine whose active ingredient is benzydamine, which is indicated for the treatment of acute sore throat.

It comes in a convenient pack of 24 lozenges with a pleasant honey-orange flavour.

Suitable for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.

Not to be used during pregnancy and lactation, except under medical prescription.

Slowly dissolve 1 lozenge in the mouth to suck, without swallowing or chewing. The recommended dose is 1 lozenge 3 times a day, when pain relief is needed.

This dose should not be exceeded and in children should be supervised by an adult.

Fodonal should not be taken for more than 7 days.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to benzydamine hydrochloride or to any of the excipients.

If your symptoms persist or worsen after 3 days or if you have fever, severe sore throat or other symptoms, consult your doctor.

Fodonal Honey and Orange may cause side effects, as with all medicines. In this case the following have been observed:

• Uncommon: skin sensitivity to sunlight causing a rash or sunburn.

• Rare: burning sensation or dryness of the skin. If this happens, take sips of water to reduce the effect of the medicine.

• Very rare: sudden swelling of the mouth/throat and mucous membranes (angioedema, symptoms of which may include difficulty breathing or swallowing, rash, pruritus [severe itching], hives or swelling of the face, hands and feet, eyes, lips and/or tongue, and dizziness). Breathing difficulties (laryngospasm or bronchospasm).

• Unknown frequency: allergic reactions (hypersensitivity). Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock), signs of which may include difficulty breathing, chest pain or tightness and/or feeling of dizziness/fainting, severe itching of the skin or bumps on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat, and which may be life-threatening. Local loss of sensitivity of the oral mucosa (oral hypoaesthesia).

The active substance in Fodonal Honey and Orange is benzydamine. Each tablet contains 3 mg benzydamine hydrochloride (equivalent to 2.68 mg benzydamine). As excipients: Isomalt (E-953), citric acid monohydrate, aspartame (E-951), quinoline yellow (E-104), lemon flavouring and peppermint oil.

Fodonal comes in the form of round yellow tablets, 19 mm in diameter, with a pleasant honey-orange flavour.

It is a medicine for oropharyngeal use only, so do not swallow or chew it, but dissolve it slowly in the mouth.
