What is Sueroral Hyposodium and what is it used for?

It is a medicine in sachet form that rehydrates, prevents and treats the symptoms of dehydration caused by vomiting or diarrhoea, regardless of whether these are of infectious origin or not. It also treats infant and summer diarrhoea, acidosis and ketosis.

Contraindications

Do not take Sueroral Hyposodium:

- In case of allergy to any of the components of this medicine.

- In premature babies or babies less than 1 month old.

- If you have significant vomiting of a continuous nature.

- If you suffer from any kidney disorder, intestinal obstruction or perforation.

- If you are diabetic or have poor glucose absorption.

Instructions for use

Dissolve one sachet of Sueroral Hyposodium in one litre of water, without adding other ingredients such as sugar. The recommended dose will vary according to the weight and age of the patient:

- Infants older than 1 month: administer 1-1.5 times their usual volume of food, in small amounts and frequently. It is not necessary to withhold breast milk.

- Children from 1 year of age: give 200 ml of solution for each diarrhoeal stool, in doses of 25-30 ml every 10-15 minutes.

- Adults : The recommended dose is 200-400 ml of solution per diarrhoeal stool.

- Exceptions: Patients with impaired liver function should adjust the dose. However, persons with impaired renal function should not take this product.

Side effects

Sueroral Hyposodium may cause side effects, as with all medicines, but this does not mean that all people will suffer from them. The most common side effects are vomiting. In such cases, stop taking the product for 10 minutes and resume taking smaller but more frequent doses.

Composition

Each sachet of Sueroral Hyposodium contains 1.2 g of sodium chloride, 1.5 g of potassium chloride, 2.9 g of sodium citrate and 20 g of glucose as the main active ingredients. The other excipients are: orange flavouring (maltodextrin, gum arabic E-414, ascorbic acid E-300 and BHA E-320), acesulfame potassium (E-950), orange yellow S (E-110).
