The aim of Sueroral Casen is to rehydrate and maintain the patient's hydration until he/she is able to recover and resume adequate nutrition.
Suitable for adults and children with dehydration problems caused by acute diarrhoea.
Do not use Sueroral Casen:
The recommended dose of Sueroral Casen varies according to the patient's weight and the severity of the illness:
- In infants older than 1 month: administer approximately 1-1.5 times their usual volume of food frequently, in small amounts and slowly. Infants given 150 ml of solution per kg of body weight in less than 24 hours should drink water frequently.
- Children from 1 year of age: give approximately 200 ml of solution for each diarrhoeal stool, administered slowly and in small amounts. In weak or vomiting children, give about 25-30 ml at 10-15 minute intervals.
- In adults: take 200-400 ml of solution for each diarrhoeal stool, slowly and in small amounts.
- Patients with impaired renal function should not take Sueroral Casen.
Like all medicines, Sueroral Casen can cause side effects, but this does not mean that everyone will experience them. In this case, the most common side effects are vomiting, which usually occurs when the solution is administered too quickly.
In patients with renal impairment, its use is contraindicated, as an overdose could lead to hypernatremia and hyperkalaemia.
