Fortasec Flas 2 mg 12 Tablets

It is an anti-diarrhoeal medicine that reduces intestinal movements and secretions, reducing liquid stools. It is therefore indicated for the occasional relief of acute non-specific diarrhoea.

Contains 12 freeze-dried tablets.

Suitable for adults and adolescents from 12 years of age.

The recommended daily dose varies according to the patient's weight and age:

Adults: initial dose is 2 lyophilisates together (4 mg), followed by 1 lyophilisate after each diarrhoeal stool. Maximum: 8 per day (16 mg).

Adolescents from 12 years of age: take 1 lyophilisate as a starting dose, followed by 1 lyophilisate after each diarrhoeal stool. Depending on weight, the maximum number of freeze-dried products per day is as follows:

• From 27 kg: 4 lyophilisates per day.

• From 34 kilos: 5 freeze-dryings per day

• From 40 kilos: 6 freeze-dried products per day

• From 47 kg upwards: 7 freeze-dried products per day

Do not use Fortasec Flas:

• In children under 12 years of age.

• If you have a high fever or blood in the stool.

• If you suffer from ulcerative colitis (inflammation in the intestine), diarrhoea after taking antibiotics or if you suffer from diarrhoea caused by salmonella, campylobacter or shigella.

Like all medicines, Fortasec Flas may cause side effects:

• Frequent: abdominal pain and discomfort, spasms, tenderness when touching the abdomen, fever.

• Very common: vomiting, nausea.

The active substance in Fortasec Flas is loperamide. Each lyophilisate contains 1.86 mg loperamide provided by 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride. The other ingredients are: gelatin, mannitol (E-421), aspartame (E-951), peppermint flavouring (contains corn maltodextrin (contains glucose), traces of ethanol, propylene glycol (E-1520), benzyl alcohol and traces of sulphites) and sodium hydrogen carbonate.

Fortasec Flas is available as an oral lyophilisate. The correct way of administration is to open the blister pack through the slit, without squeezing so as not to break the tablet. Place the lyophilisate directly on the tongue and swallow with the help of saliva. You do not need water to take this medicine.
