Capsules for the symptomatic treatment of acute non-specific diarrhoea in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

It is an anti-diarrhoeal medicine whose action reduces bowel movements and secretions, reducing the number of liquid stools. It is therefore used to treat the symptoms of acute non-specific diarrhoea.
It comes in a practical pack containing 20 hard capsules.
Intended for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
The recommended dosage varies according to the age and weight of the patient. Specifically:
Adults: take 2 capsules as an initial dose, followed by 1 capsule after each bowel movement, not to exceed a maximum of 8 capsules per day,
Over 12 years of age: start with 1 capsule, followed by 1 capsule after each bowel movement, with a maximum number of capsules depending on weight:
Child's weight Maximum number of capsules per day
From 27 kg onwards Maximum 4 capsules
From 34 kg onwards Maximum 5 capsules
40 kg and over Maximum 6 capsules
From 47 kg and above Maximum 7 capsules
Do not use Lopestop capsules:
In children under 12 years of age, without prescription or medical supervision.
In children under 2 years of age, under no circumstances.
If you are allergic to loperamide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you have blood in your stools or high fever (above 38 ºC).
If you have acute ulcerative colitis.
If you have severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics.
If you have diarrhoea due to an infection caused by organisms such as Salmonella, Shigella or Campylobacter.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Like all medicines, Lopestop capsules may cause side effects. This does not mean that everybody will experience side effects.
If any of the following side effects occur, discontinue treatment and seek medical advice:
Allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling of the face, tongue or throat that may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing.
Severe allergic reactions including anaphylactic shock.

Severe blistering or peeling of the skin.
Loss or decreased level of consciousness.
Other side effects that may occur include:
Frequent adverse reactions
Headache.
Dizziness.
Constipation.

Gas
Rare adverse reactions
Vomiting.
Pain or unpleasant sensation in the upper-middle part of the stomach.
Dry mouth.
Abdominal pain or discomfort.
Skin discolouration
drowsiness
Rare adverse reactions
Intestinal paralysis
Abdominal swelling.
Dilatation of the large intestine
Loss or decreased level of consciousness.
Stupor
exaggerated tension in muscle tone (hypertonia)
abnormal coordination
blistering of the skin
decrease in urine output
tiredness
constriction of the pupils
itching and/or swelling of the skin
The active substance in Lopestop is loperamide. Each capsule contains 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride. The other excipients are: microcrystalline cellulose, talc (E-553b) and magnesium stearate (E-572). The capsule ingredients are: gelatine, titanium dioxide (E-171) and iron oxide red (E172).
Before using this medicine you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, as they may interact with each other.
The capsules should be swallowed whole with a little water, without chewing. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day to avoid dehydration.
If after 2 days of treatment the symptoms do not improve or worsen, consult a doctor.
