Lainco Kanova Children 1.8 ml Rectal Solution 6 Enemas x 2.5 ml

It is a laxative medicine that is administered rectally. The laxative effect is achieved by the ability of glycerol to soften the stool which, together with a mild local irritant action, stimulates bowel movements, relieving symptoms of occasional constipation in children.

Formulated for use in children aged 2-12 years.

Apply rectally, do not swallow.

Use 1 individual enema per day, when necessary, or as prescribed by a doctor.

Do not take Kanova Children Rectal Solution:

• If you are allergic to glycerol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

• If you have anorectal disease, haemorrhagic rectocolitis or inflamed haemorrhoids.

• If you have cramps, colic, nausea, vomiting or other signs of appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, acute inflammatory bowel diseases or, in general, any situation of abdominal pain, without knowing the cause.

• If under 2 years of age.

• Pregnancy and breast-feeding are not recommended without consulting a doctor, as there is insufficient data on the use of this medicine in these circumstances.

Like all medicines, Kanova may cause side effects, although not everybody suffers from them. In this case, during the period of use of glycerol rectal solution as a laxative, the following have been observed:

• Itching, pain and irritation of the anus.

• Allergic reactions: swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat causing difficulty in swallowing or breathing.

Each single-dose container of Kanova Children's Rectal Solution contains 2.25 g of glycerol. Other excipients: Mallow flower fluid extract, Matricaria chamomilla fluid extract, carmellose sodium and purified water.

This is a very useful medicine for the treatment of symptoms of occasional constipation in children that is very easy to apply. Just place it with the tip facing upwards and press lightly to moisten the end of the cannula and facilitate its insertion into the rectum. Insert and squeeze the tube of the container to empty its contents completely and remove it gently while keeping pressure on it.

A healthy diet rich in fibre, exercise and adequate hydration are recommended.
