It is a medicine that contains a combination of active ingredients to combat allergy symptoms: loratadine (antihistamine) and pseudoephedrine sulphate (nasal decongestant).
Its use helps to reduce the symptoms of allergy or the common cold by slowing down the effects of a substance called "histamine", which the body produces when it is allergic to something. It is also indicated to treat symptoms of nasal congestion and other symptoms associated with seasonal allergy (hay fever) such as sneezing, eye irritation, runny, itchy nose and eyes, caused by plant pollen in adults or adolescents from 12 years of age.
Suitable for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
Take 1 tablet once a day with a glass of water.
Do not use Clarityne Plus:
In children under 18 years of age.
If you are allergic to loratadine, pseudoephedrine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you are taking any medicines for your heart or blood pressure.
If you have glaucoma, difficulty urinating, urinary tract obstruction, high blood pressure, heart or blood vessel disease, have or have had bleeding in the brain, or hyperthyroidism,
If you are being treated for depression with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or for 2 weeks after such treatment.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Like all medicines, Clarityne Plus may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them.
Common: nervousness, anorexia, drowsiness, insomnia, dizziness, restlessness, dry mouth, tiredness.
Rare: tachycardia, palpitations, nosebleeds, rhinitis, constipation, nausea.
Very rare: severe allergic reaction including rash, hives and swelling of the face, dizziness, convulsions, abnormal heart rhythms, increased blood pressure, cough, narrowing of the airways, liver problems, difficulty urinating and hair loss.
Other side effects that only occur due to loratadine: increased appetite, rash and upset stomach.
Unknown frequency: weight gain, sudden onset of fever, reddening of the skin, or small pustules.
The active substances in Clarityne Plus are loratadine and pseudoephedrine. Each tablet contains 10 mg loratadine and 240 mg pseudoephedrine sulphate. The other ingredients are: core - hypromellose; ethylcellulose; calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate; povidone; silicon dioxide; magnesium stearate; coating - macrogol 3350; hypromellose 2910; OPASPRAY white K-1-7000 (titanium dioxide E-171, hydroxypropylcellulose E-463); sucrose; macrogol 400; carnauba wax and white beeswax.
Swallow the tablet whole, without chewing or breaking it, with a glass of water, with or without food.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or may need to take any other medicines.
The duration of treatment should be as short as possible and should be stopped when the symptoms disappear.
If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 7 days of treatment you should consult your doctor.
