What is REACTINE Cetirizine/Pseudoephedrine and what is it used for?

It is a medicine with anti-allergic and decongestant action thanks to its composition with cetirizine and pseudoephedrine, which relieves nasal and eye symptoms related to seasonal allergic rhinitis.

Who it is indicated for

Intended for use in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over who want to relieve allergy symptoms.

How to use

Take 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening, without exceeding the maximum dose of 2 tablets daily. If taken in the evening, take a few hours before bedtime to reduce the possibility of insomnia.

Contraindications

Do not take REACTINE Cetirizine/Pseudoephedrine:

- If you are under 12 years of age or over 60 years of age.

- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

- You are allergic to pseudoephedrine, cetirizine, antihistamines, other nasal decongestants, or the other ingredients of this medicine.

- You have urinary retention or prostatic hypertrophy, narrow-angle glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, severe high blood pressure, or heart, kidney or liver disease.

- You have taken in the last 2 weeks antidepressant medicines of the MAOI type.

Side effects

Reactine Cetirizine/Pseudoephedrine may cause side effects, as with all medicines, but this does not mean that everybody will experience them:

- Frequent: headache, diarrhoea, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, pharyngitis and rhinitis.

- Rare: asthenia, paraesthesia, agitation, pruritus, rash, abdominal pain.

- Rare: oedema, severe allergic reactions such as anaphylactic shock, tachycardia, weight gain, convulsions, urticaria, impaired liver function, among others.

- Very rare: syncope, thrombocytopenia, blurred vision, eye twitching, tics, oedema, etc.

Composition

Each tablet of Reactine contains 5 mg cetirizine and 120 mg pseudoephedrine as the main active ingredients. The other excipients are: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, hypromellose (E-464), croscarmellose sodium, titanium dioxide (E-171) and polyethylene glycol 400.

Pharmaceutical Opinion

Reactine tablets are formulated with two active ingredients, which have antihistamine and decongestant action to help combat nasal and eye symptoms caused by seasonal allergic rhinitis.

It is taken orally every 12 hours, preferably with water. In addition, thanks to its extended-release coating, it maintains its effect throughout the day to improve symptoms and facilitate daily tasks, as well as rest.
