It is an analgesic and antipyretic medicine, indicated for the symptomatic relief of occasional mild or moderate pain, such as headache, dental pain, muscle pain (contractures) or back pain (lumbago) and febrile states in adults and children from 10 years of age and weighing more than 33 kg.
Who it is intended for
Intended for use by adults and children over 10 years of age.
The active substance is paracetamol.
Excipients:
Core: pregelatinised maize starch, calcium carbonate, alginic acid, crospovidone, povidone, magnesium stearate, anhydrous colloidal silica. Coating: white opadry YS-1-7003 and carnauba wax.
Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age: 1 or 2 tablets 3-4 times a day, depending on the intensity of the symptoms. Intakes should be spaced at least 4 hours apart. Do not take more than 6 tablets (3 g) in 24 hours.
Use in children and adolescents: It is necessary to respect the dosages defined according to weight. The age of the child according to weight is given for information only.
-Do not exceed a total dose of 60 mg/kg in divided doses of 10-15 mg/kg per day.
-In children under 12 years of age, do not continue treatment for more than 3 days without consulting your doctor.
- Children weighing 33-40 kg (10-12 years): half or one tablet per dose depending on the intensity of symptoms, every 6 hours, up to a maximum of 4 tablets per day.
- Children weighing between 41 and 50 kg (12 to 15 years): 1 tablet per dose, every 6 or 4 hours, up to a maximum of 5 tablets per day.
Children weighing between 26 and 33 kg (8 to 10 years): half a tablet every 4-6 hours, up to a maximum of 3 tablets a day. Other medicines are available with doses adapted to these children; ask your pharmacist.
Contraindications
Do not use Termalgin 500mg :
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamol, or to any of the other ingredients.
Warnings and precautions:
Do not take more than the dose recommended in section 3 of this leaflet (How to take Termalgin). Concomitant use of this medicine with other medicines containing paracetamol, e.g. cold and flu medicines, should be avoided, as high doses may result in liver damage. Do not use more than one medicine containing paracetamol without consulting your doctor.
You should consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine:
- If you are asthmatic and sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid.
- If you have liver, kidney, heart or lung disease, or if you have anaemia (a decrease in the haemoglobin level in your blood, whether or not caused by a decrease in red blood cells).
- If you are dehydrated, underweight or chronically malnourished.
- If you are taking warfarin or other oral anticoagulants.
- If you regularly consume alcohol
Side effects
-Rare : malaise, low blood pressure (hypotension) and increased levels of transaminases in the blood.
-Very rare : Kidney disease, cloudy urine, Some cases of severe skin reactions, allergic dermatitis (including skin rash, angioedema, and angioedema) have been reported.Stevens Johnson's syndrome), jaundice (yellowing of the skin), blood disorders (agranulocytosis, leucopenia, neutropenia, haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia) and hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). Impaired liver function. Paracetamol can damage the liver when taken in high doses or in prolonged treatment. Bronchial spasm in patients allergic to aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Stop taking this medicine and talk to a doctor immediately if:
-You experience allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching, sometimes with trouble breathing or swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face.
-You have a rash or peeling of the skin, or sores in the mouth.
You have had previous breathing problems with aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and you have a similar reaction with this medicine.
-You experience unexplained bruising or bleeding.
These reactions are rare.
Pharmaceutical opinion
If you have pain due to a stroke, illness, contracture, menstrual pain, headache or fever, take 1 tablet of this medicine every 4-6 hours, depending on the intensity of the symptoms.
Remember not to exceed the maximum dose of 60 mg/kg/day, divided into several doses per day.
If after 5 days of treatment, the pain does not improve or new symptoms appear, stop the treatment and see your doctor for a clinical assessment and appropriate adjustment of the treatment. The same procedure should be followed if the fever symptoms last longer than 3 days.
