Ilvigrip Night Syrup, 180 ml

IlviGrip Night is a medicated syrup formulated with a combination of paracetamol, dextromethorphan hydrobromide and doxylamine succinate.

It is indicated for the symptomatic relief of the common cold and flu with pain or fever, nasal congestion and unproductive cough (irritative cough, nervous cough). It is especially indicated for treatment during the night.

Suitable for patients over 12 years of age with symptoms of the common cold and flu, presenting with pain, fever, nasal congestion and/or unproductive cough.

Take 30 ml of syrup, administered with the measuring cup, once a day, before going to bed. This medicine is to be taken orally only.

Do not use Ilvigrip Night Syrup:

• In children under 12 years of age.
• In case of allergy to paracetamol, dextromethorphan hydrobromide or doxylamine succinate or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Also in case of allergy to antihistamines other than doxylamine succinate.
• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
• If you have severe kidney or liver failure.
• If you have an asthmatic cough (asthmatic patients).
• If you have a cough with a lot of secretions.
• If you have severe lung disease.
• If you are taking or have taken within the last 2 weeks a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) medicine used for the treatment of depression, Parkinson's disease or other diseases, as well as other medicines that inhibit the reuptake of monoamine oxidase (MAOI). as well as other serotonin reuptake inhibitor medicines used for the treatment of depression such as fluoxetine and paroxetine; or with bupropion which is a medicine used for smoking cessation or with linezolid which is an antibacterial medicine.

Like all medicines, Ilvigrip night may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. In this case, the possible effects that have been observed may be:

- Frequent: drowsiness and effects such as dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary retention, increased bronchial secretion, vertigo, dizziness, headache, pain in the upper abdomen, fatigue, insomnia or nervousness.

- Rare: asthenia (tiredness), peripheral oedema (swelling of arms and legs), nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, skin rash, tinnitus (noise in the ears), orthostatic hypotension (lowering of blood pressure due to a decrease in blood pressure), nausea and vomiting.(lowering of blood pressure due to changes in posture), diplopia (double vision), dyspepsia (upset stomach), feeling of relaxation, nightmares or dyspnoea (breathing difficulties).

- Rare: malaise, hypotension (low blood pressure), increased levels of transaminases in the blood, agitation (especially in children and the elderly), tremor (trembling).Rare: malaise, hypotension (low blood pressure), increased blood transaminase levels, agitation (especially in children and the elderly), tremor, convulsions and blood problems such as haemolytic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia or agranulocytosis (decrease in certain blood cells).

- Very rare: kidney disease, cloudy urine, allergic dermatitis (skin rash), jaundice (yellowing of the skin), blood disorders (agranulocytosis).(agranulocytosis, leucopenia, neutropenia, haemolytic anaemia) or hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), severe skin reactions.

Each 30 ml of Ilvigrip night syrup contains: 600 milligrams of paracetamol, 15 milligrams of dextromethorphan hydrobromide and 7.5 milligrams of doxylamine succinate. The other excipients are: propylene glycol (E-1520), sodium citrate, citric acid monohydrate, macrogol 300, sucrose, glycerol (E-422), potassium sorbate (E-202), sodium benzoate (E-211), aniseed flavouring, quinoline yellow (E-104), brilliant blue FCF (E-133), purified water.

If you have taken an overdose, you should seek immediate medical attention even if you do not notice any symptoms, as symptoms often do not appear until 3 days after ingestion of the overdose, even in cases of severe poisoning.

Special care is recommended in patients on barbiturate treatment or chronic alcoholics, who may be more susceptible to the toxicity of an overdose of paracetamol.
