Gelocatil Plus 500/65 mg, 20 Tablets

Gelocatil Plus is a medicine in tablet form containing paracetamol and caffeine that is used for the treatment of symptoms involving pain, as well as to reduce fever, used as an antipyretic.

It comes in a pack of 20 tablets.

This product is suitable for use in adults and adolescents over 16 years of age.

The recommended dosage is as follows: take 1 tablet of Gelocatil Plus 4 times a day.

In patients with impaired renal function, the dose should be adjusted as follows:

- Glomerular filtration 10-50 ml/min, the dose will be 500 mg every 6 h.

- Glomerular filtration less than 10 ml/min, the dose will be 500 mg every 8 h. It is not recommended that the dose exceeds 60 mg/kg/day of paracetamol.
In patients with hepatic insufficiency, the dose should not exceed 2 g/day, with an interval of 8 hours between doses.

Gelocatil Plus is contraindicated in the following cases:

• In children under 16 years of age.
• In patients with allergy or hypersensitivity to paracetamol or to any of the excipients present in this medicinal product.
• In patients with hepatocellular disorders, or phenylketonuria.
• In pregnancy and lactation its use is not recommended, if necessary, a doctor should be consulted.

• Special care should be taken in patients with chronic alcoholism, renal failure, heart failure, pulmonary disorders and anaemia, among others.

Precautions related to paracetamol:

• Consult your doctor if you are taking medicines such as chloramphenicol, propranolol, probenecid, oral anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, diuretics, loop diuretics, methocetamol, methotrexate, methotrexate, methotrexate and other medicines.The use of caffeine may affect the plasma levels of these or of paracetamol, increasing or decreasing, causing toxicity or relatively shielding the effect.

Caffeine-related precautions:

• A doctor should be consulted, if taking medications such as barbiturates, bronchodilators, disulfiram, iron, mexiletine, cimetidine, erythromycin,lithium, phenytoin, antihistamines, etc.

Gelocatil Plus may cause side effects, as is the case with all medicines on the market. In this case, the following have been observed:

• Effects related to paracetamol: hypersensitivity reactions (urticaria, anaphylactic shock), general malaise, agranulocytosis, hypoglycaemia, increased transaminases, hepatotoxicity, cloudy urine, etc. It may also cause hypotension.
• Caffeine-related effects: insomnia, agitation, nervousness, moderate delirium, headache, gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal irritation.

Each tablet of Gelocatil Plus contains 500 mg of paracetamol and 65 mg of caffeine as active ingredients. The other excipients are: Povidone K29/32, Partially pregelatinised maize starch, Microcrystalline cellulose (102), Crospovidone, Colloidal silicon dioxide, Sodium stearyl fumarate, Polyvinyl alcohol, Partially hydrogenated polyvinyl alcohol.polyvinyl alcohol (E-1203), polyethylene glycol/macrogol (E-1521), talc (E-553b), cochineal red A (E-124), titanium dioxide (E-171), orange yellow S (E-110).

If you have pain or fever, take one tablet of Gelocatil Plus every 6 hours, depending on the intensity of the symptoms.

Remember not to exceed the maximum dose of 60 mg/kg/day, divided into several doses a day.

If after 5 days of treatment the pain does not improve or new or worsening symptoms appear, stop treatment and see your doctor for a clinical assessment and appropriate adjustment of the treatment. The same procedure should be followed if feverish symptoms last longer than 3 days.
