Febrectal 650 mg Paracetamol, 20 Tablets

What is Febrectal 650 mg and what is it used for?

Febrectal 650 mg belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics and antipyretics, which are used for the occasionaltreatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.

It comes in a pack of 20 tablets.

Who it is for

Suitable for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.

Directions for use

The recommended dose is half to 1 tablet (equivalent to 325 or650 mg of paracetamol) every 4-6 hours .Do not take more than 4 and a half tablets (approximately3 gof paracetamol) every 24 hours.

The minimum interval between doses should not be less than 4 hours.

Contraindications

Do not use Febrectal 650 mg:

• In children under 15 years of age.
• In case of allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the components present in this medicine.

Adverse effects

Like all medicines, Febrectal 650 mg may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. In this case, the following have been observed:

• Rare: malaise, low blood pressure (hypotension), and increased levels of transaminases in the blood.
• Very rare: Kidney disease, cloudy urine, severe skin reactions, allergic dermatitis (skin rash), jaundice (yellowing of the skin).(yellowing of the skin), blood disorders (agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, haemolytic anaemia) and hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar).

Paracetamol can damage the liver when taken in high doses or in prolonged treatment.

Precautions

 

Concomitant use of this medicine with other medicines containing paracetamol, e.g. cold and flu medicines, should be avoided , as high doses may result in liver damage .

 

Compositio n

The active substance is paracetamol. Specifically, each Febrectal tablet contains 650 mg of paracetamol. The other excipients are: hydrogenated castor oil, maize starch, povidone, tricalciumphosphate , croscarmellose sodium, talc, magnesium stearate and stearic acid.
