What is Noxarem melatonin and what is it used for?

It is a medicine formulated with melatonin, an active ingredient used for the short-term treatment of jet lag in adults.Jet lagrefers to thesymptoms caused by jet lag whentravelling across timezones.

It comes in a convenient pack of 10 tablets.

Who it is intended for

Suitable foruse by adults over 18 years of age.

How to use

The recommended dose is one tablet of Noxarem 5 mg Forte melatonin a day for up to 4 days. You should take the first dose when you arrive at your destination at the time you go to bed (local time). On the following days, take the dose at your normal bedtime.

Please notethat the time at which you take melatonin is important, soyou should not take the tablets before 20:00 hours or after 04:00 hours. It is recommended that you do not consume food 2 hours before or 2 hours after the scheduled time for taking melatonin.

The 5 mg tablet of NoxaremMelatonin can be divided into equal doses.

Precautions

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take this medicine in case you suffer from:

  • Kidney failure: the use of melatonin is not recommended if you have severe kidney disease.

  • Liver failure: the use of melatonin is not recommended if you have liver disease.

  • Autoimmune disease: the use of melatonin is not recommended in this case.

  • Cardiovascular condition: for which you take antihypertensive medication. The use of melatonin is not recommended in this case.

Contraindications

Do not use Melatonin Noxarem 5 mg:

  • In children under 18 years of age.
  • In patients with allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the components of this medicine.
  • If you are taking antihypertensive drugs.
  • If you suffer from severe liver or kidney disease. Also if you suffer from an autoimmune disease.
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding and have not previously consulted a doctor.

Side effects

As with all medicines, Noxarem Melatonin 5 mg may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. In this case,possible side effects in short-term use for jet lag are: headache, loss of appetite, dizziness, daytime sleepiness and disorientation.

The following have also been observed:

  • Uncommon: chest pain.
  • Rare: loss of consciousness or fainting,severe chest pain due to angina,feeling one's own heart beat,depression,vision problems,disorientation, vertigo(a sensation of dizziness or "light-headedness"), dizziness (a feeling of dizziness or "lightheadedness").(a feeling of dizziness or "spinning"),blood in the urine,low white blood cell count in the blood,low platelet count, which increases the risk of bleeding or bruising,psoriasis.

Compositio n

The active substance in this medicine is melatonin. Specifically,each Noxarem tablet contains 5 mg of melatonin. The other ingredients are: calcium hydrogen phosphatedihydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, anhydrous colloidal silica, pregelatinised starch.

Pharmaceutical advice

Melatonin may cause drowsiness. If you experience drowsiness you should be careful as it may impair your ability to do things like drive.

Please also note that smoking may reduce the effectiveness of melatonin, as the components of tobacco smoke may accelerate the breakdown of melatonin in the liver.

We advise you not to take more than the recommended dose and, if you suffer from drowsiness, to follow healthy habits that help you fall asleep naturally. If the 5 mg dose is too much, you can use the available 3 mg format.
