Dormidine is a brand of non-prescription medicine that helps you fall asleep during times of stress or insomnia. Its active ingredient is Doxylamine, an antihistamine derived from ethanolamine. Rare side effects, which may affect up to 1 in 100 people, include asthenia, peripheral oedema, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, acufenosis, skin rash, orthostatic hypotension, diplopia, dyspepsia, feeling of relaxation, nightmares and dyspnoea.
Rare side effects, with a frequency of up to one case per 1,000 people, are agitation, daytime sleepiness, dry mouth, dizziness, constipation and difficulty urinating.

Dormidine is not recommended during pregnancy, as doxylamine, its active substance, is contraindicated in pregnant women due to a lack of studies in this population group. The package leaflet for Dormidina 25 mg states that doxylamine is contraindicated during pregnancy and breast-feeding, so it is advisable to seek other options for treating insomnia during pregnancy and to consult a doctor beforehand to find the best solution.
