Dormirel is a tablet medicine formulated with doxylamine hydrogeosuccinate, an antihistamine active substance with sedative action, which is commonly used for the treatment of occasional insomnia, helping people to fall asleep.
Intended for the symptomatic treatment of occasional insomnia inadults over 18 years of age.
Take 1 tablet of Dormirel 25 mg a day with a little water, preferably about 30 minutes before going to bed, without exceeding the maximum dose of 1 tablet a day, which is equivalent to 25 mg of doxylamide.
If drowsiness occurs with the use of this medicine, it is advisable to reduce the dose or to advance the time of taking the medicine so that at least 8 hours have elapsed. The duration of treatment should not exceed 7 days.
For people over 65 years of age, it may be necessary to adjust the dose, as they are more sensitive to side effects. People with liver or kidney disease should modify the dose according to the degree of their disease, always under medical supervision.
Contraindications
Do not take Dormirel:
If you are under 18 years of age.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
If you are allergic to doxylamine, to other antihistamines, or to any of the other ingredients in this medicine.
Dormirel 25 mg may cause side effects, as is the case with all medicines, which does not mean that everyone will suffer from them. In this case, the effects of doxylamine are usually mild and transitory, and disappear once the treatment is stopped:
Frequent: dizziness, fatigue, dry mouth, headache, insomnia, drowsiness, nervousness, constipation, blurred vision, vertigo, pain in the upper abdomen, urinary retention and increased bronchial secretion.
Rare: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, peripheral oedema, tinnitus, asthenia, skin rash, diplopia, dyspepsia, orthostatic hypotension, dyspnoea, feeling of relaxation and nightmares.
Rare: tremor, agitation, convulsions, blood problems.
Frequency not known: general malaise.
Each tablet contains 25 mg doxylamine hydrogen succinate as the main active substance. The other ingredients in the core are: microcrystalline cellulose (E-460i), mannitol (E-421), sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A) (potato), anhydrous colloidal silica and magnesium stearate. The coating excipients are: indigotine (E-132), hypromellose (E-464), titanium dioxide (E-171) and polyethylene glycol.
Dormirel 25 mg tablets is an antihistamine medicine considered to be a sleep inducer and is therefore used in adults or those over 18 years of age who suffer from occasional insomnia.
It comes in cylindrical, slotted tablets for easy splitting in case you want to take a smaller dose.
It is recommended to take the capsule at least 30 minutes before going to sleep, ideally eight hours before getting up the next day, to avoid drowsiness.
