What is Ibuprofen Mabo Farma and what is it used for?

It is a medicine formulated with 400 mg of ibuprofen, an active ingredient with analgesic and antipyretic action that is indicated for the relief of fever and painful symptoms with mild to moderate intensity such as headache, menstrual pain, joint pain, muscle pain, among others.

Who is it intended for

It is indicated for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

Instructions for use

Take 1 or half a tablet every 4-8 hours respectively, without exceeding 1200 mg of ibuprofen / 24 hours.

Not recommended for children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg.

It should be taken on a full stomach.

In patients with impaired renal, cardiac or hepatic function, a doctor should be consulted for possible dose adjustment.

Contraindications

  • Do not use Ibuprofen Mabo-Farma in case of recurrent gastrointestinal ulcer, history of gastrointestinal bleeding, severe heart failure, liver and kidney failure.
  • In case of allergy to ibuprofen or other excipients contained in this medicine, as well as in patients with asthma, rhinitis, angioedema or nasal polyps.
  • Contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy.
  • Special care should be taken in patients with hypertension, as it may increase blood pressure.
  • Special care should be taken if taking any of the following medicines, and consult a doctor before administration: baclofen, chloramphenicols, loop diuretics, antihypertensives, hydantoin, tacrolimus, furosemide, methotrexate, pentoxifylline, hypoglycaemic agents, among others.
  • Herbal extracts such as Ginkgo biloba may also interfere, as they may increase the risk of bleeding from NSAIDs.
  • Avoid alternate use with salicylates such as salicylic acid and its derivatives due to risk of haemorrhage.

Side effects

Ibuprofen Mabo Farma may cause side effects, as with all medicines. Specifically, the following have been observed:

  • It may infrequently lead to thrombocytopenia, leukopenia and haemolytic anaemia. May cause, infrequently, asthma, allergic reactions such as bronchospasm, rhinitis, asthma, oedema, dyspnoea, heart failure, visual disturbances, hypertension, among others.
  • More frequently, it may cause headaches, skin rash and itching, as well as gastrointestinal discomfort, dyspepsia and vomiting.

Composition

Each tablet of Mabo Farma contains 400 mg of Ibuprofen as the active ingredient and 30 mg of lactose. The other excipients are: croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, talc, magnesium stearate, pregelatinised corn starch, anhydrous colloidal silica and purified water.

Pharmaceutical Opinion

If you have any type of muscular pain, contracture, or due to an inflammatory or dental process, take 1 or half a tablet every 4-8 hours, without exceeding the maximum daily amount of 1200 mg.

The same dose can also be used to treat febrile states.

If symptoms last longer than 5 days, worsen or if you have an adverse reaction, discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
