What is Dalsydol and what is it used for?

Dalsydol isa medicine formulated with ibuprofen as the active substance that belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and is used forthe symptomatic relief of occasional mild to moderate pain, such as headache, dental pain, menstrual pain, muscle pain (contractures) or back pain (lumbago), as well as in febrile states.

It comes in a pack of 30 film-coated tablets.

For whom it is intended for

Suitable for use inadults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

Instructions for use

 
 
 

The recommended dose of Dalsydol isone tablet (400 mg ibuprofen) every 6-8 hours. The tablets should be swallowed whole, with a glass of water, without chewing, splitting, crushing or sucking to avoid mouth discomfort and throat irritation. Do not exceed a maximum of 3 tablets (1200 mg ibuprofen) per day. Patients with stomach upset should take the medicine with milk or during meals.

In patients over 65 years of age: the dosage should be established by the doctor, as a reduction of the usual dose may be necessary.

However, in patients with kidney, liver or heart disease, it is recommended toreduce the dose and to consult a doctor.

Contraindications

Do not take Dalsydol 400:

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicinal product (listed in section 6) or to other medicines of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) group or to aspirin. Reactions indicating allergy may include: itchy rash, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, runny nose, difficulty breathing or asthma.

  • If you have severe liver or kidney disease.

  • If you have had a stomach or duodenal ulcer or bleeding or have had a perforation of the digestive tract.

  • If you vomit blood.

  • If you have black stools or bloody diarrhoea.

  • If you have bleeding or blood clotting disorders, or if you are taking anticoagulants (medicines used to "thin" the blood). If you need to use anticoagulant medicines at the same time, your doctor will test your blood clotting.

  • If you have severe dehydration (caused by vomiting, diarrhoea or insufficient fluid intake ) .

  • If you have severe heart failure.

  • If you arein the third trimester of pregnancy.

Side effects

Likeall medicines ,Dalsydol can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.The incidence of side effects is lower in short courses of treatment and if the daily dose is below the maximum recommended dose. The frequencies shownbelow refer to short-term use of maximum daily doses of up to 1200 mg oral ibuprofen:

  • Frequent:Gastrointestinal bleeding, especially in elderly patients. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, flatulence, dyspepsia (disorder of gastrointestinal secretion or motility), constipation, heartburn, abdominal pain, blood in stools, vomiting of blood, headache, dizziness or feeling unsteady, fatigue have also been observed.

  • Rare: gastritis, duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, reddening of the skin, itching or tingling of the skin, urticaria, purpura (purplish spots), rashes, redness, itching or tingling of the skin.rpura (purplish spots on the skin), skin reactions under the influence of light, hypersensitivity, paraesthesia (sensation of numbness, tingling, tingling, prickling, etc.). most frequently in the hands, feet, arms or legs) and drowsiness, insomnia, anxiety, hearing disorders, visual disturbances, rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa), inflammation of the oral mucosa with formation of ulcers (aphthous ulcers), inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth (aphthous ulcers).lceras (canker sores), gastrointestinal perforations, hepatitis (inflammation of the liver), liver function abnormalities and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), asthma, bronchospasm, dyspnoea (shortness of breath). Tubulointerstitial nephritis (kidney disorder), nephrotic syndrome (disorder characterised by protein in the urine and swelling of the body) and kidney failure (sudden loss of kidney function).sudden loss of kidney function), acute renal failure and papillary necrosis (especially with prolonged use) associated with increased urea.

Precautions

You should discuss your treatment with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Dalsydol if:

  • If you have oedema (fluid retention).

  • If youhave or have ever had a heart disorder or high blood pressure.

  • If you have asthma or any other breathing disorder.

  • If you are being treated with this medicine as it may mask fever, which is an important sign of infection, making it difficult to diagnose.

  • If you have kidney or liver disease, are over 60 years old or need to take the medicine for a long time (more than 1 to 2 weeks), your doctor may need to check you regularly. Your doctor will tell you how often you should be checked.

  • If you have had or develop an ulcer, bleeding or perforation in the stomach or duodenum, which may be manifested by severe or persistent abdominal pain and/or black stools, or even without previous warning symptoms.

  • If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, a family history of heart disease or stroke, or if you are a smoker.

Compositio n

The active substance in this medicine is ibuprofen. Specifically, each Dalsydol tablet contains 400 mg of ibuprofen. The other excipients in the core are: microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silica, sodiumlauryl sulphate, magnesium stearate. Coating agents: hypromellose, talc and titanium dioxide (E-171).

Pharmaceutical advice

Serious skin reactions associated with Dalsydoltreatment have been reported . Stop taking it and seek medical advice immediately if you develop any rash, mucous membrane lesions, blisters or other signs of allergy, as these may be the first signs of a very serious skin reaction.

Remember to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary to relieve symptoms. If symptoms do not improve or worsen, if fever persists for more than 3 days or pain for more than 5 days (3 days in adolescents), you should consult a doctor.
