What is Enandol used for?

Enandol is a medicine belonging to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used for the symptomatic treatment of acute pain of mild to moderate intensity, such as pain in muscles or joints (back pain, sprains and acute trauma), dental pain and menstrual pain.

It comes in a pack of 20 film-coated tablets.

Who can take Enandol without a prescription

Suitable for use in adults over 18 years of age.

Enandol composition

The active substance in Enaldol is dexketoprofen (as dexketoprofen trometamol). Each tablet contains 12.5 mg dexketoprofen. The other ingredients are:

  • Tablet core: maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl starch (Type A) (potato starch), glycerol distearate.
  • Tablet coating: dry lacquer consisting of hypromellose, titanium dioxide and macrogol 6000, and propylene glycol (E-1520).

How to take Enandol

The required dose of the medicine may vary depending on the intensity and duration of the pain. Generally, the recommended dose is 1 tablet (12.5 mg dexketoprofen) every 4-6 hours, not exceeding the maximum of 6 per day (75 mg).

Pharmaceutical advice

Although the dose may vary according to the intensity of the pain, you should always use the lowest possible dose that is effective, bearing in mind that the maximum recommended dose of 6 tablets a day should not be exceeded.

Contraindications

Do not use Enandol in the following cases:

  • Under 18 years of age.
  • If you are allergic to dexketoprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • If you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or to any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
  • Si tiene asma o ha sufrido ataques de asma, rinitis alérgica aguda (un período corto de inflamación de la mucosa de la nariz), pólipos nasales (formaciones carnosas en el interior de la nariz debido a la alergia), urticaria (erupcióangioedema (swelling of the face, eyes, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing) or wheezing in the chest after taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • If you have had photoallergic or phototoxic reactions (special form of redness or burning of skin exposed to sunlight) while taking ketoprofen (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) or fibrates (drugs used to lower blood fat levels)
  • If you have peptic ulcer, stomach or intestinal bleeding, or if you have had bleeding, ulceration or perforation of the stomach or intestine in the past.
  • If you have chronic digestive problems (e.g. indigestion, heartburn);
  • If you have had stomach or intestinal bleeding or perforation in the past, due to previous use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used for pain.
  • If you have chronic inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
  • if you have severe heart failure, moderate to severe kidney failure or severe liver failure
  • if you have bleeding disorders or blood clotting disorders
  • if you are dehydrated due to vomiting, diarrhoea or insufficient fluid intake
  • If you are in the third trimester of pregnancy or breastfeeding

Side effects

Like all medicines, Enaldol can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. The possible side effects are listed below according to their frequency.

  • Common side effects: nausea and/or vomiting, mainly upper abdominal pain, diarrhoea, digestive disorders (dyspepsia).
  • Rare adverse effects:Rotatory sensation (vertigo), dizziness, drowsiness, sleep disturbances, nervousness, headache, palpitations, hot flushes, inflammation of the stomach wall (gastritis), stomach wall inflammation (gastritis).mago wall inflammation (gastritis), constipation, dry mouth, flatulence, skin rash, fatigue, pain, fever and chills, malaise.
  • Rare adverse effects: peptic ulcer, peptic ulcer perforation or bleeding (which may manifest with vomiting of blood or black stools), fainting, elevated blood pressure, slowed breathing, blood retention, vomiting of blood or black stools.(e.g., swelling of the ankles), laryngeal oedema, loss of appetite (e.g., loss of appetite, loss of appetite, loss of appetite, loss of appetite, loss of appetite, loss of appetite).loss of appetite (anorexia), abnormal sensation, itchy rash, acne, increased sweating, lower back pain, frequent urination, menstrual disturbances, prostatic disturbances, liver function tests, liver function tests, kidney function tests.abnormal liver function tests (blood tests), liver cell damage (hepatitis), acute renal failure.
  • Very rare: anaphylactic reaction (hypersensitivity reaction which may also lead to collapse), ulcers of the skin, mouth, eyes and genital areas (Stevens Johnson syndrome and Stevens Johnson syndrome).(Stevens Johnson syndrome and Lyell's syndrome), swelling of the face or swelling of the lips and throat (angioedema), difficulty in breathing due to narrowing of the airways (angioedema).(bronchospasm), shortness of breath, tachycardia, low blood pressure, inflammation of the pancreas, blurred vision, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), sensitive skin, sensitivity to light, itching, kidney problems. Decreased number of white blood cells (neutropenia), decreased number of platelets (thrombocytopenia).
