Capsules for the symptomatic treatment of occasional mild to moderate pain and fever.
Contains 24 capsules.
Formerly called Efferalgan, it is a medicine formulated with paracetamol, an active ingredient used for the treatment of occasional mild to moderate pain and fever.
It comes in a pack of 24 capsules.
Adult patients and children over 12 years of age.
Take one capsule with a glass of water. Dosage depends on the age of the patient:
Adults: 1 capsule every 4-6 hours, or 2 capsules every 6-8 hours, depending on the intensity of the symptoms. Maximum dose. 4 g in 24 hours.
From 12 years of age: 1 capsule every 4-6 hours. Max. dose 5 capsules/day
The dose should be reduced by 25 % in case of renal insufficiency.
In alcoholics, special care should be taken not to exceed the maximum dose of 4 tablets daily (2 g/day).
In adults weighing less than 50 kg, the maximum dose is 3 g paracetamol/day.
Do not use Efferalgan Capsules:
In children under 12 years of age.
If you are hypersensitive to paracetamol or any of the excipients, in hepatocellular disorders, or phenylketonuria.
Special care should be taken in patients with chronic alcoholism, renal insufficiency, heart failure, pulmonary disorders and anaemia, among others.
No problems have been reported in pregnant women, although a doctor should always be consulted before use.
No problems have been reported during lactation, although a doctor should be consulted before use, as maximum concentrations of 10-15 microlitres/ml in milk 2 hours after ingestion have been found.
A doctor should be consulted if you are taking medicines such as chloramphenicol, propranolol, probenecid, metoclopramide, domperidone, rifampicin, lamotrigine, isoniazid, among others, as the plasma levels of these or paracetamol may be affected, increasing or decreasing, causing toxicity or shielding the effect relatively.
Efferalgan may cause side effects, as with all medicines. This does not mean that all patients will experience them. In this case, the following have been observed
Hypersensitivity reactions (urticaria, anaphylactic shock), general malaise, agranulocytosis, thromobocytopenia, hypoglycaemia, increased transaminases, hepatotoxicity, cloudy urine, among others.
It can also produce Esteven-Johnson Syndrome, acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis, toxic epidermal necrolysis, which can be fatal.
Each Efferalgan capsule contains 500 mg paracetamol as the active substance. The excipients are: Sodium, Magnesium stearate, Gelatine, Azorubin (E-122), Titanium dioxide (E-171).
If you have acute pain from a sprain, headache, or various other ailments, take 1 or 2 capsules of Efferalgan as directed above.
In adults, the dose of 3 g per day should not be exceeded. If pain persists for more than 5 days, treatment should be discontinued as it requires medical intervention and re-evaluation for treatment adjustment.
