Difenatil Infant 100 Mg/Ml Oral Solution, 60 ml

The active substance in Difenatil Infantil, paracetamol, belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics and antipyretics.

This paracetamol is used for the symptomatic treatment of fever and for the relief of mild to moderate pain.

This medicine is available as an oral solution.

This product is intended for children between 3-32 kg of body weight (approximately from 0 to 10 years of age).

The recommended daily dose of paracetamol is approximately 60 mg/kg/day, divided into 4 or 6 daily doses, i.e.15 mg/kg every 6 hours, or 10 mg/kg every 4 hours.

• Inchildren under 2-3 years of age, it is recommended to dose the oral solution with the oral syringe included in the 30 ml packs.
• Inchildren 3 years of age and older, it is recommended to dose the oral solution with the oral syringe included in the 60 ml and 90 ml packs.

The solution is dosed in millilitres (ml) using the oral syringe included in the 30 ml, 60 ml and 90 ml packs.

For administration of15 mg/kg every 6 hours, the schedule is as follows:

For a direct calculation, the child's weight in kg can also be multiplied by 0.15; the result is the ml of paracetamol to be administered.

If the desired effects are not obtained 3-4 hours after administration, the dose can be advanced every 4 hours, in which case 10 mg/kg should be administered.

Do not use Difenatil Infantil100 Mg/Ml Oral Solution:

• In persons allergic to paracetamol or to any of the other ingredients of this medicinal product.
• In case of suffering from phenylketonuria (hereditary disease diagnosed at birth).

Adverse reactions to paracetamol are generally rare: malaise, increased levels of liver transaminases and low blood pressure.

Very rare: severe skin reactions, liver disorders (such as jaundice), low blood glucose, blood disorders (thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, haemolytic anaemia), cloudy urine and kidney disorders.

Very rarely can damage the liver at high doses or prolonged treatment. Serious skin reactions have been reported very rarely.

Consult your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before starting this medicine.

• Do not exceed the recommended dose "How to take Difenatil Children's". Check that you are not taking other medicines containing paracetamol at the same time.
• In patients with kidney, heart or lung disease and in patients with anaemia (decrease in the haemoglobin level in the blood, whether or not caused by a decrease in red blood cells), consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
• If you have liver (including Gilbert's syndrome) or kidney problems or suffer from chronic malnutrition or dehydration, consult your doctor as you may require a reduction in the dose of paracetamol.
• If you are asthmatic and sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
• Drinking alcoholic beverages may cause paracetamol to cause liver damage.
• If pain lasts for more than 3 days in children (2 days for sore throat) or fever for more than 3 days, or if other symptoms worsen or appear, treatment should be stopped and a doctor should be consulted.

Children

It is advisable to consult a doctor before use in children under 3 years of age.

• The active substance is paracetamol. Each millilitre of solution contains 100 mg paracetamol.
• The other ingredients (excipients) are macrogol, glycerol, saccharin sodium, aspartame (E-951), raspberry flavouring (contains benzyl alcohol), azorubine (E-122) and purified water.

Consult a doctor if it gets worse or if it does not improve after 3 days, in case of fever or if pain persists in children for more than 3 days (2 days for sore throat).
