What is Combix Paracetamol Efg 650 Mg and what is it for?

It is a medicine formulated with 650 mg of paracetamol, an active substance effective in reducing pain and fever. It is therefore used for the symptomatic relief of fever and occasional mild to moderate pain in people over 15 years of age and over 12 kg body weight.

It comes in a pack of 20 tablets.

Who itis intended for

Suitable for use inadults and adolescents aged 15 years and over and weighing more than 50 kg.

Instructions for use

The tablets should be swallowed whole or broken in half, with the aid of a liquid, preferably water.

The recommended dose varies according to the weight and age of the patient:

  • Adolescents over 15 years of age: the usual dose is 1 tablet (650 mg paracetamol) every 4 - 6 hours. Intakes should be spaced at least 4 hours apart. No more than 3 grams (4 tablets) should be taken in 24 hours.

For patients with other pathologies:

  • Patients with liver disease: before taking this medicine they should consult their doctor. They should take the amount of medicine prescribed by their doctor with an interval of at least 8 hours between each dose. They should not take more than 3 tablets of 650 mg of paracetamol in 24 hours.
  • Patients with kidney disease: consult your doctor before taking this medicine. Take a maximum of 500 mg per dose.
    Due to the dose, 650 mg paracetamol is not indicated for this group of patients.
  • Elderly patients: you should consult your doctor.
  • Use in children and adolescents: Do not use in children and adolescents under 15 years of age.

Contraindications

Do not use Paracetamol Combix Efg:

  • In children under 15 years of age.
  • In case of allergy to paracetamol or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Paracetamol Combix Efg650 mg may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. In this case, the following effects have been observed:

  • Rare:malaise,hypotension (low blood pressure),increased levels of transaminases in the blood.
  • Veryrare:kidney disease, cloudy urine, allergic dermatitis (including rash, angioedema and Stevens Johnson syndrome), jaundice (yellowing of the skin).( yellowing of the skin), blood disorders (agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, haemolytic anaemia) and hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). Serious skinreactions have been reported very rarely . Bronchialspasm in patients allergic to aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Precautions

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take paracetamol:

  • If you have liver problems, including those caused by excessive alcohol consumption.

  • If you have kidney problems.

  • If you have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

  • If you suffer from anorexia, bulimia, cachexia or chronic malnutrition.

  • If you suffer from dehydration or hypovolaemia.

  • If you are taking a medicine to treat epilepsy.

  • If you have Gilbert's disease (also known as Meulengracht 's disease ).

  • If you have heart failure, respiratory failure or anaemia; in these situations, administration should be done under supervision and only for short periods.

  • If you suffer from asthma and are sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid.

Composition

  • The active substance is paracetamol. Each tablet contains 650 milligrams of paracetamol.
  • The other ingredients (excipients) are sodium potato starch glycolate (Type A), purified water, pregelatinised maize starch, povidone K30 (E1201), stearic acid (E570) and crospovidone (E1202).

Pharmaceutical advice

The tablets are scored, which allows them to be broken in half to divide them into equal doses. Remember not to exceed the stated dose and always use the lowest effective dose. Remember not to take more than the maximum daily dose, as serious liver damage may occur.You should consult a doctor if fever worsens or does not improve or worsens after 3 days of treatment.In case of pain, consult a doctor if pain persists for 5 days.
