What is Chiclida chewing gum and what is it used for?

Chiclida chewing gum is a medicine used for the prevention and treatment of symptoms of motion sickness caused by land, sea or air travel, such as nausea, vomiting and/or vertigo in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

Who it is intended for

Suitable foruse in adults and adolescents over12 years of age.

How to use

Chew the gum. Do not swallow. Administer at least one hour before the start of the trip.

Take 1 or 2 pieces of chewinggum (25 mg- 50 mg meclozine hydrochloride) approximately one hour before the start of the journey. If necessary, repeat the dose every 24 hours. Do not exceed a dose of 2 chewing gums (50 mg meclozine hydrochloride) per day.

Precautions

In patients with renal and/or hepatic insufficiency, it may be necessary to reduce the dose.

If symptoms worsen, or if they persist for more than 7 days, a doctor should be consulted.

 

Contraindications

Do not use Chiclida Chewing gum:

  • In children under 12 years of age.
  • In case of allergy to any of the components present in this medicine.

Side effects

Likeall medicines, Chiclida Chewing Gum can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them.

  • Serious: If you have a severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock) with rash, itching, difficulty breathing, stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical help.
  • Frequent: These are the occurrence of drowsiness and sedation. Dry mouth, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting and joint pain occur rarely.
  • Frequency not known:abdominal pain, diarrhoea and constipation,drowsiness and sedation,increased bronchial secretion,increased appetite, anorexia,anxiety, euphoria, irritability, hallucinations, insomnia, memory disorders, psychotic disorders, confusion and paranoia, dizziness, headache, movement disorders (e.g. Parkinson's disease), paraesthesia (paraesthesia),dizziness,headache, muscle relaxation (e.g. Parkinson's disease).Parkinson), parestesia (sensación de hormigueo y adormecimiento),visión doble, vértigo, acúfenos (ruidos de origen interno en el oído),sequedad de garganta y de nariz, broncoespasmos (contracció(contractionof the bronchial tubes), epistaxis (nosebleeds),dysuria (difficult, painful and incomplete passage of urine), polyuria (production and excretion of large amounts of urine), urinary retention, fatigue, weakness and weakness.(production and excretion of large amounts of urine),urinary retention,fatigue, weakness,tachycardia, palpitations and/or arrhythmias,hypotension (lowering of blood pressure),hyperexcitability,decrease in thenumber of red blood cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and other abnormalities in the blood.red blood cells, white blood cells, leucocytes and platelets,allergic skin reactions and sensitivity to sunlight, after intense exposure, itching and reddening of the skin may occur,weight gain.

Precautions

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take Chiclida:

  • If you suffer from seizures in which convulsive movements appear, with or without loss of consciousness (epilepsy).

  • If you are over 65 years of age, dry mouth, urinary retention, glaucoma, nausea, dizziness, sedation, confusion, low blood pressure (hypotension) or hyperexcitabilitymay occur .

  • If you are using a medicine that causes ear toxicity, as symptoms of these toxic effects, such as ringing in the ears, dizziness or lightheadedness, may be masked.

  • If you have a liver or kidney disease or disorder, as this may increase the concentration of the active substance.

  • If you have or have ever had heart disease or disorders such as cardiac arrhythmia, high blood pressure, severe muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), stomach or intestinal ulcer.

  • If you suspect you may have symptoms of appendicitis such as nausea, vomiting or abdominal cramps. It is recommended that you see a doctor who can rule out the presence or absence of appendicitis.

Avoid exposure to the sun while taking this medicine.

If you are allergic to any other antihistamine, it is not recommended to take this medicine.

Compositio n

The active ingredient is Meclozine hydrochloride. Specifically, each piece of Chiclida chewing gum contains 25 mg of meclozine hydrochloride. The other excipients are: Glucose monohydrate, liquid glucose, gum base, peppermint essence, chlorophyll (CI= 75810) .

**Thismedicine contains glucose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Patients with diabetes mellitus should be aware that this medicine contains 3.96 g of glucose per piece of chewing gum** .

Symptoms of overdose may vary from sedation, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness to insomnia, hallucinations, tremors or convulsions.
