Eye drops for the temporary relief of mild congestion, redness and irritation in the eyes of irritative and/or allergic origin.

It is a medicine in the form of eye drops whose active ingredient is naphazoline for an ocular decongestive action. Its use is indicated for the temporary relief of congestion, redness and mild irritation in the eyes of irritative and/or allergic origin, caused by external agents, such as: tobacco smoke, dust, pollution, dry or stuffy environments, sunlight, chlorinated water or sea water, reading or work requiring prolonged fixation of the eyes.
Suitable for use by adults and adolescents over 12 years of age. However, those over 65 years of age should only use it under medical supervision.
The recommended dosage is 2 to 4 drops, depending on the needs of the affected eye(s). Treatment should not exceed 3-5 days.
Do not use Centilux:
In children under 12 years of age.
If you are allergic to naphazoline or other adrenergic medicines and also if you are allergic to any of the excipients.
If you have narrow-angle glaucoma of the eyes.
During pregnancy and lactation, unless prescribed by a doctor.
Centilux may cause side effects, as with all medicines. Specifically, the following have been observed: pupil dilation, increased pressure inside the eye (intraocular), effects due to absorption into the body (increases in blood pressure, cardiac disorders and increased blood sugar), headache and nausea.
Rarely, itching after application has been observed.
Possible rare occurrence of continuous redness and irritation of the eye.
Unknown frequency: conjunctivitis, eye pain.
Very rarely: opaque areas on the cornea.
In predisposed patients and with use in higher than recommended amount or frequency, palpitations, tremor, weakness and sweating may occur.
Allergic reaction to any of the ingredients may also occur.
The active substance in Centilux is naphazoline hydrochloride. One ml of eye drops contains 0.25 mg naphazoline hydrochloride (0.025%).
The other excipients: benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium phosphate dibasic dodecahydrate, sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate, methylthioninium chloride (methylene blue) and purified water.
This is a medicated eye drop in a blue liquid solution in a 10 ml dropper bottle.
Do not wear contact lenses while using this medicine. Remove them and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
Do not use this medicine if you notice that the solution changes colour or becomes cloudy. The solution remains stable for 1 month, after which time it should be discarded.
