It is an ophthalmic gel medicine whose active ingredient is Carbomer. It is used for the relief of symptoms of dry eyes (such as inflammation, burning, irritation or dryness) caused when the eyes do not produce enough tears.
It comes in a 10g pack.
Intended for use in adults over 18 years of age.
The usual dose is 1 drop administered into the affected eye(s), up to 4 times a day.
Do not use Siccafluid if you are allergic to carbomer or any of the excipients.
Benzalkonium chloride may cause eye irritation, especially if you have dry eye or other corneal diseases. Consult your doctor if you feel a strange sensation, stinging or pain in your eye after using this medicine.
Siccafluid may cause side effects, as with all medicines. In this case, although side effects are rare, the following have been reported: temporary blurred vision and a slight stinging or burning sensation in the eye.
If you notice any of these effects, stop using the medicine and tell your doctor.
The active substance in Siccafluid is carbomer 974 P. Each gram contains 2.5 mg of active substance. The other excipients are: benzalkonium chloride, sorbitol, lysine monohydrate, sodium acetate trihydrate, polyvinyl alcohol and water for injections.
If you wear soft contact lenses, you should remove them before using Siccafluid. After use, you should wait at least 30 minutes before putting them back in.
Store the bottle in an upright position, with the cap downwards, in order to facilitate the formation of drops for the next time you use this medicine.
Discard the bottle 28 days after the first opening, even if there is still product left in the bottle.
