Optispring is a medicine formulated with tetryzoline, which belongs to the group of decongestant medicines called sympathomimetics, which reduce eye congestion. It is therefore indicated for the temporary relief of mild eye irritation.
It comes in a pack of 10 single-dose 0.5 ml.
It is indicated for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.
The recommended dosage varies according to the age of the patient.
From 6 years of age: apply 1 or 2 drops in each eye 2 or 3 times a day according to need, up to a maximum of 4 times a day.
Children from 2 to 6 years of age: use only under strict medical supervision.
Do not administer this medicine for more than 7 days.
Do not use Optispring:
In children under 2 years of age.
In case of allergy to tetryzoline or to any of the excipients present in this medicine.
If you have increased intraocular pressure (narrow-angle glaucoma).
If you have heart disease or high blood pressure (hypertension).
If you have a tumour in your adrenal glands (pheochromocytoma).
If you have an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism).
If you have insulin-controlled diabetes.
If you are being treated with antidepressants of the amino oxidase inhibitor class or other blood pressure raising drugs.
If you have dry rhinitis.
If you have inflammation of the cornea and conjunctival membrane of the eye (keratoconjunctivitis).
Optispring may cause side effects, as with all medicines. Specifically, the following have been observed:
Frequent: Eye irritation (pain, stinging, burning, visual disturbances.
Infrequent: burning of the mucous membrane of the eye, dryness of the eye, rebound redness, palpitations, headache, tremor, weakness, sweating and increased blood pressure.
Rare: blurred vision, irritation of the conjunctiva and dilation of the pupil (mydriasis).
Very rare: application site reactions (including ocular or periocular burning, erythema, irritation, oedema, pain and itching.
Frequency not known: Increased lacrimation.
Prolonged and frequent use may cause dry eye syndrome.
The active substance in Optispring is tetryzoline. Each ml of eye drops contains 0.5 mg tetryzoline hydrochloride. The other excipients: boric acid (E-284), sodium borate, sodium chloride, edetate disodium, benzalkonium chloride and purified water.
This is a medicated eye drop in an easy-to-use single-dose form that you can take with you anywhere.
