Septanasal is a nasal spray used to temporarily and locally relieve nasal congestion and related conditions (inflammation, small wounds or scabs), promoting healing and protection of the nasal mucosa. It does not require a prescription.

Septanasal spray can be used by adults and children over 12 years of age who suffer from mucous secretion, nasal congestion or inflammation of the mucosa caused by colds or rhinitis. It contains xylometazoline (a decongestant) and dexpanthenol (for the regeneration of the nasal mucosa).
1 spray every 8 hours (3 times a day). To use: 1. Remove the protective cap; 2. If it is the first time you are going to use it or it has not been used for a few days, press the spray head 5 times in the air until a fine spray appears; 3. Wipe the head with paper and cover with the cap.
Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use if you have had head surgery, if you suffer from glaucoma, if you or your child has dry rhinitis, if you are prone to inflammation of the nasal mucosa. Also not if you are taking antidepressants, MAOIs, blood pressure medications.
Like all medicines, Septanasal may cause side effects: hypersensitivity reactions or allergy to any of the ingredients may occur. Nosebleeds, palpitations, restlessness, insomnia, arrhythmias, headache, burning and dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing... may also occur.
Consult your doctor if you are taking antidepressants and medicines related to blood pressure. If you have glaucoma, cardiovascular or circulatory system disease, insomnia, vertigo, spinal cord tumour, prostatic hypertrophy.
Septanasal contains as active substances 0.1 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride and 0.5 mg dexpanthenol per spray. The accompanying excipients are: potassium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate and water for injections.
It is recommended not to use the medicinal product for more than 3 consecutive days, unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor. Prolonged use may cause rebound effect and dependence leading to chronic inflammation and thinning of the nasal mucosa, causing you to feel the need for continued use to relieve congestion.
