It is a medicine formulated with acyclovir, an active ingredient with antiviral action that relieves the symptoms caused by cold sores, also known as fever blisters.
It is intended for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age who suffer from cold sores.
Apply a sufficient amount of product with your finger to cover the affected area of the lip with a thin layer approximately every 4 hours during the day, a maximum of 5 times a day.
The maximum duration of treatment is 10 days.
Do not use Zovicrem lip balm:
In children under 12 years of age.
In case of allergy to acyclovir, valacyclovir or any of the excipients of this medicine.
Before starting treatment with this medicine, a doctor should be consulted:
Immunosuppressed patients (e.g. AIDS patients, people who have received transplants, or who are undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy), should consult a doctor.
Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Zovicrem lip balm may cause side effects, as with all medicines. This does not mean that everyone will experience side effects. In this case, the following have been observed:
Rare: temporary burning or itching after application, dryness or peeling of the skin or lips.
Rare: reddening of the skin, contact dermatitis after application.
Very rare: immediate allergic reactions, including angioedema, which manifests with swelling of the throat or difficulty in swallowing or breathing.
Each gram of Zovicrem Lip Cream contains 50 mg of acyclovir as the active substance. The other excipients are: poloxamer 407, cetostearyl alcohol, sodium lauryl sulphate, white soft paraffin, dimethicone, arlacel 165 (macrogol stearate 100 and glycerol monostearate), liquid paraffin, propylene glycol and purified water.
It is advisable to wash hands before and after using the cream in order to avoid infection.
It is advisable to start treatment as soon as the first symptoms appear, such as itching or hardening of the area.

The blisters or sores will remain contagious until the scab appears, a sign that the lesion has healed.
