Canespie is an antifungal cream whose main ingredient is bifonazole. It is used to treat fungal skin infections such as athlete's foot (tinea pedis), ringworm and candidiasis of the skin. These infections often cause symptoms such as redness, itching, flaking and cracking of the skin, commonly affecting the areas between the toes or other moist areas of the body.
Bifonazole is a compound that works by destroying the fungal cell membrane. By inhibiting the production of ergosterol, a key component in the cell structure of these microorganisms, bifonazole weakens and eventually eliminates the fungal cells, promoting healing of the infection.
The Canespie formulation includes 1% bifonazole (10 mg/g), which is the main antifungal agent. It also contains other excipients, such as ketostearyl alcohol and benzyl alcohol, which help to improve its application to the skin and the absorption of the active ingredient.
Bifonazole is effective because it interferes with fungal cell membrane formation. By inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key element in fungal cell structure, bifonazole weakens and destroys the fungus, preventing its growth and proliferation.
Application and duration of treatment with Canespie
It is recommended to apply a thin layer of Canespie to the affected areas once a day, preferably before bedtime. The area should be gently massaged until the cream is completely absorbed.
The duration of treatment with Canespie is usually 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the severity of the infection. It is important not to stop treatment prematurely, even if the symptoms disappear, to avoid relapses. If the infection does not show improvement after seven days, it is advisable to consult a doctor.
The use of Canespie is contraindicated in people who are hypersensitive to bifonazole or to any of the excipients of the formula. In addition, during pregnancy and lactation, a doctor should be consulted before using the cream, as there may be risks associated with its use during these stages.
Although rare, some people may experience side effects such as mild irritation, burning sensation or local allergic reactions. If these symptoms occur, discontinue use and seek medical attention.
It is essential to apply Canespie only to the skin and to avoid contact with eyes and other mucous membranes. After application, hands should be washed thoroughly to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of the body. To maximise the effects of the treatment, it is recommended to keep the affected areas clean and dry.
This medicine is an effective option for treating superficial fungal infections, but it is important to follow the directions for use and duration of treatment to ensure complete elimination of the fungus.
