Rectal ointment for the local symptomatic treatment of inflammation and itching associated with haemorrhoids.

It is a medicine formulated with a corticosteroid, an active ingredient that acts against itching and inflammation. It is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with haemorrhoids, such as inflammation and anal itching.
It comes in a 15 g tube pack.
Suitable for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
Apply an amount of ointment, equivalent to 2 centimetres, to the anal and/or rectal area. The maximum dose is 2 applications per day.
Do not use Hemodren Rectal Ointment:
In children under 12 years of age.
If you have haemorrhoidal bleeding or uncontrolled bacterial, fungal or viral infection.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Like all medicines, Hemodren rectal ointment may cause side effects, but this does not mean that everybody will experience them. In this case, the following common adverse reactions have been reported: local (non-systemic) reactions, such as irritation or hypersensitivity at the site. If this occurs, treatment should be discontinued.
The active substance in Hemodren Rectal Ointment is hydrocortisone. Each 100 grams of ointment contains 1 gram of hydrocortisone (corresponding to 1.116 g hydrocortisone acetate). The other ingredients are: Polyethylene glycol 4000, polyethylene glycol 400, cetyl alcohol, disodium edetate, nipastat and purified water q.s.
Applications are recommended both in the morning and in the evening, preferably after bowel movements and personal hygiene. Before application, clean the area with soap and warm water and apply the ointment with a clean gauze or, in the case of internal haemorrhoids, using the enclosed cannula.
