Who it is indicated for
Intended for use in adults seeking relief from the pain, itching or stinging caused by haemorrhoids.
How to use
Apply a small amount of Hemoal Forte ointment morning and night on the affected anal area, previously washed and dried, using the tip of the finger. Wash hands after each application.
In case of use inside the anal canal, screw the cannula onto the tube and carefully insert a small amount of product inside. Remove and wash the cannula after each application.
Normal daily use is about 3 to 4 times a day. In total, treatment should not last more than 7 days, so consult a doctor if symptoms do not improve within this time.
Contraindications
Do not use Hemoal Forte:
If you are under 18 years of age.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, as there is a possibility of absorption.
If you are allergic to benzocaine, ephedrine hydrochloride or the other ingredients of this medicine.
In case of allergy to local anaesthetics.
If you are being treated with sulphonamides, cholinesterase inhibitors or sympathomimetic agents.
If you suffer from hypertension, hyperthyroidism, methaemoglobinaemia or cardiovascular disorders.
If you are being or have been treated in recent weeks with antidepressant drugs.
Side effects
Hemoal Forte cream may cause side effects, as with all medicines, but this does not mean that everybody suffers from them. These include:
Rare side effects: ischaemia.
Very rare side effects: headache, insomnia, hypersensitivity reactions, anxiety, nervousness, palpitations.
Adverse effects of unknown frequency: methaemoglobinaemia, hypokalaemia, loss of appetite, hyperhidrosis, irritability, confusion, tachycardia, cardiac arrhythmia, nausea, vomiting or hypertension, among others (see package leaflet for side effects).
Composition
Each gram of Hemoal Forte ointment contains 60 ml of benzocaine and 2 ml of ephedrine as the main active ingredients. The other excipients are: zinc oxide, white petrolatum and acetylated lanolin alcohols.
