Espididol 400 mg Granules for Oral Solution Mint Flavour, 20 sachets

Espididol is a medicine in the form of granulated sachets containing ibuprofen, an active ingredient that works by reducing pain and fever. It is therefore used for the symptomatic relief of occasional mild to moderate pain, such as headache, dental, menstrual, muscular (contractures) or back pain (lumbago), as well as fever.

It comes in a pack containing 20 sachets.

Suitable for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age who need to relieve mild to moderate pain or reduce inflammation.

Dissolve the contents of one sachet completely in a glass of water and swallow. It is recommended to be taken with meals or with milk, especially if digestive discomfort is noted.

Do not take more than 3 sachets of granulated ibuprofen (1200 mg of ibuprofen) a day, in order to avoid circulatory or heart problems.

Do not use Espididol granulate:

• In children under 12 years of age
• If you are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients.
• If you have severe liver or kidney disease.
• If you have had an ulcer or bleeding in your stomach or duodenum or have had a perforation of your digestive tract.
• If you vomit blood.
• If you have black stools or bloody diarrhoea.
• If you have an active cerebrovascular haemorrhage or other active bleeding.
• If you have bleeding or blood clotting disorders or are taking anticoagulants (medicines used to "thin" the blood). If you need to use anticoagulant drugs at the same time, your doctor will test your blood clotting.
• If you have severe heart failure.
• If you have severe dehydration caused by vomiting, diarrhoea or insufficient fluid intake.
• If you are in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Like all medicines, Espididol granulate may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. In this case, some of the effects that have been observed are the following:

• Rare: allergic reaction, hypersensitivity reactions with rash and itching, as well as asthma attacks (possibly together with a drop in blood pressure).
• Rare: anaphylaxis (generalised allergic reaction).
• Very rare: severe hypersensitivity reactions (these may be characterised by swelling of the face, tongue and larynx with bronchospasm, dyspnoea, tachycardia and hypotension which may include life-threatening shock).

The active substance is ibuprofen-arginine. Each sachet of Espididol granulate contains 400 mg ibuprofen (as 770 mg ibuprofen arginine). The other excipients are: aspartame (E951), sucrose, sodium hydrogencarbonate, saccharin sodium, peppermint flavouring and aniseed flavouring (contains butyl hydroxyanisole (E-320)).
