Aspirin Complex Effervescent Granulate, 10 Sachets

Aspirin Complex is an effervescent granulated medicine. It is a combination of acetylsalicylic acid, an analgesic that acts on pain and fever, chlorphenamine, an antihistamine that reduces sneezing and watery eyes, and phenylephrine, a vasoconstrictor that acts on nasal congestion.

This medicine is indicated for the symptomatic relief of catarrhal and influenza processes with mild or moderate pain, fever, congestion and nasal secretion in adults and adolescents over 16 years of age.

Do not use Aspirin Complex:

• In children under 16 years of age.
• If you are allergic or hypersensitive to acetylsalicylic acid, chlorphenamine, phenylephrine or any other component of this medicine.
• If you suffer from kidney and/or liver disease (renal and/or hepatic insufficiency).
• If you suffer or have suffered from asthma, or have had asthmatic allergic reactions when taking anti-inflammatory drugs, acetylsalicylic acid, other painkillers and the dye tartrazine.
• If you have nasal polyps associated with asthma that are caused or increased by acetylsalicylic acid.
• If you suffer from haemophilia or other blood clotting problems.
• If you are being treated with oral anticoagulant medicines.
• If you suffer from heart disease, tachycardia or severe arterial disease.
• If you have high blood pressure (hypertension).
• If you have thyroid disease (hyperthyroidism).
• If you suffer from glaucoma (elevated eye pressure).
• If you suffer from gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer or repeated gastric discomfort.
• If you have bladder neck obstruction or urinary retention.
• If you are taking any medication for depression or Parkinson's disease, which inhibits monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
• If you are in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Before taking this medicine you should consult your doctor if you:

• you suffer from high blood pressure, or have reduced kidney, heart or liver function, or if you have blood clotting disorders.
• if you have had a stomach or intestinal ulcer.
• you are being treated with anticoagulants, you should consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
• you are taking anti-inflammatory or other medicines as certain medicines may interact with Aspirin Complex effervescent granulate and cause side effects (see section "Use of other medicines").
• you are allergic to other anti-inflammatory or antirheumatic medicines.
• you have a deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.
• you have or have ever had rhinitis or urticaria.
• you have recently undergone or are due to undergo surgery, including dental surgery, in the next 7 days.
• you are in the first or second trimester of pregnancy.
• you have diabetes mellitus, prostate disease (prostatic hypertrophy), pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), pyloroduodenal obstruction (obstruction between the stomach and the intestine).
• if you suffer from thyroid disease, cardiovascular, lung and kidney disease or anaemia you should consult your doctor before taking this medicine as it may aggravate the condition in question or interact with medicines commonly used to treat these conditions.
• you are being treated with medicines for depression with tricyclic antidepressants, such as maprotiline, or with medicines with anticholinergic action such as some medicines used to treat depression.If you are suffering from stomach problems as soon as possible, you should inform your doctor if they occur, as paralytic ileus (slowing or cessation of bowel movements) may occur.
• if you have an intolerance to any antihistamine (used to treat allergies) or analgesic (medicines used to relieve pain), cross-sensitivity may occur, where patients sensitive to one antihistamine may be sensitive to others.

The normal dose is 1 sachet every 6-8 hours, without exceeding the maximum daily dose of 4 sachets.

As with all medicines, Aspirin Complex may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them.

• Common side effects: Gastrointestinal disorders, such as stomach ulcer, intestinal ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal pain, heavy digestion, burning, heartburn, gastric discomfort, nausea, vomiting, constipation. Respiratory disorders, such as difficulty breathing (asthma, bronchial spasm), nasal congestion and rhinitis. Hives, skin rash, angioedema (swelling and swelling affecting the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat, which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing) and itching. Nervous system disorders: drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, dizziness. Hypoprothrombinemia (impaired clotting) when given in high doses.
• Rare: Reye's syndrome in children under 16 years of age with febrile processes, influenza or chickenpox. Liver disorders, especially in patients with juvenile arthritis. Anaemia. Nervous system disorders: confusion (especially in elderly patients), euphoria, nervousness, restlessness (especially in children and elderly patients), lack of sleep, headache, strange behaviour. Cardiovascular effects: pulse disturbances (palpitations, tachycardia), elevated blood pressure (hypertension), which can sometimes be severe (hypertensive crisis). difficulty in urinating Dry mouth, nose or throat.

Each sachet of Aspirin Complex effervescent granules contains the following active ingredients: acetylsalicylic acid 500 mg, phenylephrine 8.21 mg (equivalent to 15.58 mg phenylephrine bitartrate) and chlorphenamine 1.41 mg (equivalent to 2 mg chlorphenamine maleate). The other excipients are: citric acid anhydrous, sodium hydrogencarbonate, lemon flavouring, quinoline yellow colouring (E-104).
