What is Vasfilm and what is it for?

It is a medicated ointment with emollient, protective and softening properties thanks to vaseline. It is therefore indicated to relieve dryness and irritation of dry and chapped skin.

In the healthcare field it is used as a general lubricant, for gynaecological and rectal examinations, placement of probes and application of dressings.

For whom it is intended for

It is intended for use in both adults and children. It is also suitable during pregnancy and lactation.

Instructions for use

Apply a small layer of ointment to clean, unwounded skin and repeat the process 1 to 3 times a day. It can also be used as a lip softener.

In gynaecological and rectal examinations, apply a thin layer of the product on the area of friction before starting the examination. This process should only be performed by a qualified health care professional.

Contraindications

Do not use Vasfilm:

• In case of allergy to petroleum jelly.

• On wounded areas of the skin.

• On the breasts, in case of breastfeeding.

Side effects

Although adverse effects of Vasfilm are uncommon, sensitivity reactions in susceptible individuals have occurred on rare occasions. Acne and inflammatory reactions have been reported.

Composition

Vasfilm contains petrolatum filans as the active ingredient and the only ingredient, so there are no added excipients.

Pharmaceutical advice

For proper storage of this product, it should be kept at a temperature below 30 degrees Celsius. It comes in a screen-printed aluminium tube containing 20 g of ointment, which is transparent in colour and smooth to the touch.

It is recommended that you wash your hands after each use to avoid staining your clothes.
