What is Orravan pure sterilised Vaseline and what is it for?
It is a topical medicine with emollient properties, designed for the symptomatic relief of dry, irritated and chapped skin, as it acts as a skin protector and softener.
In healthcare it is also used as a general lubricant in gynaecological and rectal examinations, as well as for the placement of probes and application of dressings.
It comes in a practical 25 g tube.
Target group
It can be used in both adults and children. It is also suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Instructions for use
Apply a thin layer on the skin, previously clean and free of wounds, 1 to 3 times a day.
For gynaecological and rectal examinations (by qualified health personnel), apply a thin layer of product to the area of friction before the examination.
Contraindications
Do not use Orravan pure sterile Vaseline:
In case of allergy or hypersensitivity to petroleum jelly.
On wounded areas.
On the breasts, in case of breast-feeding.
Side effects
Although adverse effects of petroleum jelly are rare, hypersensitivity reactions have been observed on rare occasions. Acne problems and inflammatory reactions have been reported following absorption of the product due to non-indicated use.
Composition
Orravan Pure Sterile Vaseline contains only vaseline as the active ingredient and therefore no added excipients.
Pharmaceutical advice
This is a slightly whitish and very creamy ointment that should be kept at a temperature below 30 degrees. It is available in different presentations, all of them in aluminium tubes of 18 gr, 25 gr and 32 gr.
This product may stain clothes, so you should wash your hands after each use.
