Topigel 200 Mg/G Oral Gel, 1 tube 11.25 g

Topigel 200 Mg/G Oral Gel is a topical anaesthetic that is applied externally to the area of the mouth to be treated to relieve pain. It is indicated to relieve local pain in the teeth or mouth, such as that caused by the rubbing of prostheses, extractions, canker sores and small mouth wounds.

Adults and children from 6 years of age

This medicine is to be administered in the mouth. It should not be swallowed. Apply a small amount of the medicine to the area to be treated, using small dabs, a maximum of 3 or 4 times a day.

In children aged 6-12 years, apply only under adult supervision, as above. In children aged 2-6 years, under medical supervision, and in children under 2 years, under strict medical supervision. If it worsens or if pain persists after 2 days of treatment, consult a doctor. Wash hands after application of the medicine.

Avoid taking Topigel:

• If you cannot tolerate other local anaesthetics such as para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), parabens or para-phenylenediamine (a component of hair dye).
• If you have a severe or extensive mouth injury. 2 of 4
• You should not take doses higher than recommended in section 3 (How to take Topigel ).
• If you have asthma, bronchitis or emphysema.
• Stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor immediately if you notice: headache, dizziness, shallow breathing, nausea, fatigue or rapid heartbeat.
• Elderly people who are ill or debilitated should consult a doctor before taking this medicine as they are more sensitive to possible adverse reactions.
• Do not swallow.
• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Do not eat or drink while the numbness of the mouth persists, due to the risk of biting the tongue or the mucous membrane of the mouth and choking.

The active substance is: Benzocaine. The other ingredients are: Polyethylene glycol , Saccharin, Cherry flavouring.
